As a software engineer, I love Kevin O'leary and can confirm what he just said about programming. Once I were programming 24 hours strait, another time I woke up in the middle of the night with the solution to a problem and another time I solved a programming issue at the weekend because my not so well informed project manager wanted me to solve a problem in a stupid way, so I solved it the RIGHT way during the weekend. Got a nice bonus for it too! :)
This guy articulates the virtue of free markets to people on the left better than I see any US politician doing today. Really, really impressive ability to educate.
listen, not every boss is like Kevin O'Leary. Kevin O' Leary is an ENTJ personality that see strength in everybody, and he could see if those strength can meet his goal oriented results. He doesn't care about the journey. This type of personality can tolerate Introverts. Not every personality trait can tolerate introverts' quietness "in their own world", or self-reflection.
yes we get it you took one marketing course and you think myers briggs personality phenomenon has any basis in reality whatsoever. Mark my words, just like astrology and lie detectors, these foolish unscientific fads will die.
Grumpy Gandalf I'm not sure why snobs like yourself keep saying this, the myers briggs at is core is just a classification system that codifies simple and easily observable personality traits. For example, we all know that some people enjoy spending time with others, whereas others prefer to keep to themselves. We call the sociable people "Es" and the other "I". We know that some people are organized, they prefer a structured, methodical approach whereas others value flexibility and spontaneity. We call the organized people "Js" and the freewheelers "Ps", and so on. It's not vector calculus, but it's a short hand system that allows us to easily understand a person's preferences across a few well known, easily observable categories. Humans classify things: Flowers, Days of the week, fruits, vegetables, etc etc. These classification systems are all somewhat arbitrary, but they still have their uses. Why is this so hard to grasp?
Wow did you upvote your own comment. It had 1 upvote 1 minute after posting. I know at a face level your point about analysis seems grounded. But human nature of analysis in general has many flaws and biases as well. I don't care for most of it, we humans give ourself too much credit. This Myer Briggs test is too simplistic and vague. It is barely any more well founded than astrology classification. And by the way, the snobs are the self important insecure people who wear their Myer classication as some sort of badge. Being a little critical doesn't make me a snob it just makes me a grumpy realist. This Myer Briggs stuff will not exist in 50 years. And yes that is human nature to improve and find a new interpretation of observations, but this one is too stupid for me to stomach even now.
@@JBCanimation and you have ZERO upvotes in 1 year (probably more than just 12 months). Next time you try to bring up "upvoting" , think about your own side of the argument and how it will be seen years to come. Looks like their side makes more sense than your own side. Too bad the "grumpy" name doesnt cover the OBVIOUS anger issues of the person behind it ..... I'm talking about you. If you dont completely understand something, it's best not to engage on it in a argumentative way.
I teach University-level business and marketing classes, and I am showing this video to my students next week. The women asked good questions, and Kevin O'Leary is telling it straight. My students, who are about to enter the workforce, need to hear his rational, real-world advice. I am going to look for other clips that include more of his comments, and then work them into my lesson plans.
"You go to work to make money, not friendships" That really hits the nail on the head. He's being dead honest that it's about individual success with a team success "disguise". Put yourself before all in your company, there's no shame in that at all.
Kevin O'leary, I hope one day when I am a successful business woman, that I can look back to when I watched this video and think to myself: Where would I be without hearing this amazing advice? This advice truly inspires me to be successful in the workplace.
Women have a HUGE advantage when it comes to marketing especially on social media or in person. Attractive women will get more sales compared to your average male. Know your advantages and use them to get ahead.
Commando Master I think there was a study done that women in charge don’t hire attractive women because they feel threaten and only men in charge hire attractive women....I guess it’s a double edged sword
It is. You can read about it here: www.livescience.com/9038-attractive-women-hired.html Why is this even surprising? Life is all about survival of the fittest. People are primitive creatures at the end of the day and will do what they have to do to get ahead and eliminate any competition on their way.
Im working a minimum wage job in retail watching these videos, its very good advice, i plan on going back to school to get a real, high paying career and moving away from my tiny town, and omg, guys if youre also in the same position as me, hearing him and just imagining a $10k bonus?? Omg, to me that is a lot of money, ten thousand dollars, ive never seen or have been close to any kind of money like that, thats unbelieveable.
I got fired 3 times because my superiors were afraid of losing their positions to me, even tho they receive most of the credit from my ideas! Thanks to them, I'm now an entrepreneur!
I'VE BEEN SEEING POST EVERYWHERE ABOUT FOREX TRADING AND CRYPTO CURRENCY, A LOT OF PEOPLE KEEP SAYING THINGS ABOUT THIS TRADING PLATFORMS PLEASE CAN SOMEONE LINK ME TO SOMEBODY WHO CAN PUT ME THROUGH..?
As an American I want to see him run Canada in a way that the people deserve. Business aptitude translates in multiple areas of life for effectiveness.
About dressing I don't give a damn just show you got so much money they definitely gonna entertain you. If you are too well dress, it means you need to impress somebody, you are the one wanting and in need. Cuz your not a billionaire. Dont get me wrong, I love kevin his very entertaining.
Why do those peoplepersons have to hold little cards that say the SOCIAL on them. Is in case they forget which show they are on, or are they little tags their mommies hung around their necks to make sure they did not get lost on their way to work? And they make Kevin clap for himself....bet he argued with the producer about it.
The only way to make more money is to switch companies as often as possible because if your the employee doing most of the work your bosses wont pay you what your worth. Most of the time your boss doesnt really know how much you do until you leave!
Bosses should keep in mind that people work not because they like their boss, but because they need to make a living. Otherwise they would be fishing or skydiving.
"Do amazing work that DEMANDS you get paid more" Sound familiar? I don't claim to be an exceller, but I've seen talented colleagues lag behind while aggressive *hole$ leapfrog them. I wish the above statement was true. This is pure conjecture on my part, but I think some people are just too polite and maybe not as assertive as they could be in the workplace. I don't think there's any need to be a ***k though.
That blonde might have started the show and that's why it might be a success now! :D It's like Coding Babes, people watch that because of the female :D
don't be dumb nowadays it is easier for women to be promoted if the HR is women majority the managers and directors are women majority or the bosses love women that much men have to fight twice harder
i could learn a LOT from this guy... if i had the abilities to 1 shut up 2 sit still 3 not piss people off and MOST IMPORTANTLY 4 not work so hard that others see me as a threat. i'm such a good fucking worker i'm CONSTANTLY getting 'sabotaged' at work by 'lesser' employees. all this would be fine if i had the ability to slap the shit out of 'wave makers' and not get fired for doing it.
Host asks why women are underrepresented in leadership positions in business after commenting on the single man in the audience and the fact that more women watch and attend their show. The lack of self awareness is astonishing.
Their reactions are exactly why women on the whole don’t do as well as men in business - they’re acting like basic insta bitches, rather than professional and indispensable... not all women, but far too many women fall into the trap of thinking they have to be “funny” or whatever the hell they’re trying to do. Just be competent and engaging, and you’ll do fine
O'Leary's point blew right past some of them. If you really want to be recognized as female Leader, the top of the food chain, your focus should be on performance. That entitlement bullshit of "because I'm a woman, i deserve to be toe-to-toe with the men" is garbage. I see the same shit in the work place. There are females who put in the work and they are fucking awesome. Then there are those special ones who spend more time crying and bitching about inequality where there is no base for it instead of actually putting in the hours and precision work.
Of course personal appearence is important, and economical progress, but Oleary doesent care about friendship at all as long as the company makes money, i have seen young/youth companies where the "dresscode" is very casual, and they make millions, Oleary is the "oldschool" company leader, and thats ok, but there are a new emerging "youngschool" companies that doesent work after Olearys model anymore, (sry i am not english) Levi
