Unfortunately, RU-vid messaging is no longer a thing - RU-vid has discontinued it. And no, Kevin isn't a doctor. Kevin is a remarkable person, but one of the most remarkable things about him is his character. After Epic dropped Pentatonix's recording contract just a week after they'd "won" it on _"The Sing-Off,"_ Kevin had options. He could very easily have said "Forget this! I can still go to Yale Medical School and become a surgeon," but he didn't; he stuck with Pentatonix during the lean years when the only way they could publish anything was by uploading it to RU-vid. If he'd left then Pentatonix would have had no chance. Because he stuck by his friends, his family, Pentatonix is the success they are today.
Jerod, I know it's been "a couple years" since I have commented on one of your videos. Good to see you are still keeping it going now and then. You're looking good and healthy. Happy holidays to you and your family.
I loved all of your reaction, as I always do, Jerod, but I have to thank you especially for saying that "they can do anything they want" at their concerts and that "they've earned it." I flat-out turned off one reactor when his reaction to seeing an instrument in an a cappella video was, "That's cheating!" No. It's not. LIke any artist, a musician--or a band--is free to stretch, and grow, and try something new. Everything PTX does, whether it's adding an instrument or occasionally double-tracking on a studio performance, is done not to fool the audience but to make their awesome music even better. And if a band happens to have a Kevin...well, they'd be crazy not to use him! Case in point--have you reacted to "Kiss from a Rose" yet? Sorry, I can't remember. I've watched at least 5 dozen reactions to that one and there are a lot more out there. But now I'm going to check if you're one of them. Great reaction! Thanks, Jerod. ETA: OK, yes, I've seen your reaction! I remember now--you did a comparison video! It was great!
This is one of my favorite video’s!!! I just love it so much from Scott’s awesome introduction for Kevin to Kevin’s intro of what he performed that changed all of their lives forever! And then Kevin’s fifth with the drums from Matt and the dancing… it was EPIC!! From another Pentaholic - love your channel and love your reactions!! ♥️🎄♥️
YOU made my day!!! Though i lovd each member for their talents... for myself, there is nothing more attractive than a Brilliant/Intelligent mind. KO is that guy for me! Thanks again for making my day!✌🏻
If you think this performance was amazing, and I saw it live 3 years ago, please react to his and Matt's performance from this year's Christmas tour called "The Most Wonderful Tour". ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vBdljht7h_A.html
Love your content!! Also, I have watched many reactions to this video of Kevin's Fifth and I can't get enough of seeing RU-vid reactors discovering how incredible every one, in front performing, and behind making sure their fans are ALWAYS included. Thanks!
Apparently they now do either Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy or God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen in this format, and Matt has a full drum set. I only saw it once. So much talent.
Yes, they do the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. They added a full drum kit and crazy lighting. It reminded me of a Trans Siberian Orchestra performance.
They are doing a slightly different performance during thier current tour, and Matt has upgraded to a full drum kit. 😊 I was fortunate enough to see this concert in Greensboro, NC last year. It was phenomenal. The dancers are Cost & Mayor, who won a televised competition a few years ago. They added something cool to the show.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe the Academy considers anything for a Grammy that hasn't been properly published - live performances don't count. And "The Kevin Show/Kevin's Fifth" is available only in the form of recordings from live performances.
