There is an extremely important message here delivered with delightful humor! It is great that Kevin listened to his body and got lifesaving medical attention! I went to the ER six years ago and got two stents for two almost totally blocked coronary arteries! Do NOT dismiss chest pain! Maybe it IS heartburn but if it’s not...ol’ Grim Reaper’s gonna lead you away! Kevin’s taking charge of his weight situation and diet makes him as powerful as ANY comic book superhero! I never get tired of listening to this wonderful success story of survival! Learn the symptoms of a heart attack. They can differ but check out any red flag symptom!
I'm a minute and a half in, and I'm so proud to be from the same state as this dude. This is a film maker and actor that completely defies the Hollywood mentality: completely honest, funny and humble. Love him, glad to see he's recovering so well.

Kevin, we love you. I haven't gone completely vegan, bit 90% and lost 80 lbs. Fasting is also a key tool. You look amazing, I am so glad you are in the 20%, and your work is timeless. From one mensch to another, keep on keepin' on.

Notice how he is almost always standing in his interviews since his attack. Standing uses way more calories than sitting. So he is taking his health seriously now.
I saw in live at Helium, he mentioned he hates sitting in interviews or on stage because he feels like he looks like Java the Hut. Even after loosing 80 lbs from a no sugar diet (before his heart attack) he had body shame issues.
Kevin looks great. I hope he lives a long and happy life, you can tell he's a genuine down to earth guy and he makes great movies! "Oh no, here comes Silent Bob with the undersuck" LOL
I love how honest and open he is when talking. Like, whatever embarrassment he may have about it is overridden by his love of sharing and telling stories (and maybe attention, heheh).
Wanted to say thank you. I never thought about what food I eat until I was older. I lost 35 pounds. Didn’t go vegan but fasting and things helped. I wasn’t a huge dude but was unhealthy and it helped.
Kevin is a good egg. Wasn't bored for a single second listening to his heart attack story. Takes a good storyteller to make that entertaining as well as interesting for 40 minutes. Still remember seeing Clerks for the first time. Fuckin' hilarious.
@kevinsmith Thanks for sharing. Just spent Chrisrmas 2019 diagnosed with Kawaski disease, never knew I had it. Wanted to do 5 artery bybass. On Christmas day I was released with only medication. Best Christmas eve. I will probably need at some time. I smoked cannabis since I was 13. I have no plaque. I think weed has helped save my life. Again thanks for sharing.
As a vegan, and former non-vegan, I understand the hate. No one wants to surrender the food they like, feel like they're being told what to do, or what they're doing is wrong. However, it is easier to be vegan now than ever and the benefits to your health are significant. Most people don't feel the effects until their 40s. Once I made the change, I felt so much better.

holy SHIT, Bryan Johnson... he looks like he's 25 again (well not in the face). I stopped watching Comic Book Men after like season 2, but I remember even before they started it, Kevin talking about how Bryan was in a real bad place, had largely given up on life, he told him once "I've got one foot on the stool", and he was majorly overweight. He still was very much so back when last I saw CBM (although at least he obviously had a steady gig and was having some laughs), but he not only lost ALL the weight, he looks straight up buff. Good for him, I wish to hell I could do that. Well, I don't at all need to be "buff", but it is hard as fuck getting rid of this 42 year old gut of mine (that literally none of has come from beer, btw)
ua re not supposed to feel" heavy" after eating a Meal...thats when u have allready overeaten...try to eat slow so ur stomach has the chance to send the "iam good and full" signals to u brain...so u dont overeat anymore
Skipping breakfast seems to be very effective for maintaining weight. It's the one thing that easily sticks in my habits, even when I lapse in my diet focus for weeks. Keeps the scale stable, in my experience.
Kevin is so relatable. Watching this podcast, it's easy to forget he's a big-time writer/director whose actually worth millions. Seems he would be right at home, whether he's in a Hollywood mansion pitching an idea for a film to a group of uber-wealthy studio heads, or smoking a cigarette outside a convenient store in a run-down neighborhood talking to degenerates and drug-dealers.
Damn, I'm kinda worried about my heart as well. I've noticed I get short breathed easily. I dig the cheeseburgers and a host of other things I'm not supposed to be eating. God I hope I don't need stints. There's got to be a natural way to get rid of this blockage stuff.
