I remember a freshly qualified tradesman I worked with when I was an apprentice leaving the link in from an MCB to the MET. It was when they still put the service head and fuse board in the cupboard under the stairs, 100a fuse - bang! Right in his face, eyebrows gone 😂 luckily it was just embarrassing and no greater injuries occurred! It was funny seeing him walk around site with no eyebrows or eyelashes for weeks

Totally agree regarding not being able to check Connections etc as long as you note on the certificate the operational limitations I don’t see the issue as you say you’re not trying to defraud anyone, you’ve made it clear that’s what you’re doing. I do exactly the same. There are a lot of cooker & hob connections that you can’t get to or take apart, I test to the isolator and then do an R2 test to the casing to prove an earth path, again noted on the cert & the NICEIC inspector was happy with that if our down of the cert. Love my light mates, make EICRs so much easier, I struggle getting 3 probes at a pendant sometimes, not anymore 👍🏻👌🏻

Love your Vids . Your a based guy & not full of yourself and no BS , Admitting you sometimes get mixed up on emergency lighting is no biggy, we have all done that some time or another. If i was a customer you would be the first i would recommend . So many on u-tube full of themselves. Hope to see more vids. Thanks.I think you meant Insulation Resistance Test & Not ELI when you shorted your home made plug ?

The null socket is what i’ve used for years too, quick and easy

Also made some rubber trailing sockets up. You can buy the light mates separately. The hardest I find to test is commercial LED fittings.

Supposedly with the Megger MFT you don't need to Null the leads before doing a Zs test. The meter has a built in memory of the test leads in the settings, this only works with the supplied leads. If you supply your own leads you can edit this value in the settings. Personally I still Null them as Megger leads for me seem to be very temperamental, any slight movement on the 4mm jacks into the meter can have a big effect on its accuracy....

Another good piece of advice on what’s out there, I see you Megger MFT do you have any issue getting the leads into theses adapters, I can’t get my leads to fit in the socket and see version Another question Hager RCCD when testing is your megger now and again stopping the test at 5x?
