My wife and I had an argument that the remote on her 2019 Santa Fe was intermittently working. I told her that the battery needed to be replaced, but she insisted that we needed to buy a whole new remote. (about $150) I told her that we didn't need to do that, but she kept persisting. I showed her this video and guess what? She watched me replace the battery and the remote works perfectly. Finally she believes in me.

I changed battery exactly as you show here and it worked, however now I can't use the FOB to unlock or lock the car remotely. I'm guessing it has to be reprogrammed or something. Do you have information on how to do that? It's a Santa Fe 2013 but I'm sure the process is the same.

Thank you! My key fobs began to slowly stop working when I had an oil leak. It was leaking into the exhaust and maybe some other areas. One day, the smell of oil was really bad and it wouldn't allow me to start my car. It said it couldn't detect my key fob, though I had both of them. I recently got the major oil issue taken care of, however, last night, it couldn't detect my key fob to allow me to unlock and lock my car door, though it did start up. Any advice?

Btw if your key fob dies and the car thinks the key is not there, the engine will not start (says key is missing) - an *emergency override* is to flip open the center console, insert the key fob upside down into the little slot, & push down until it clicks into place. The car will read your key even when the battery is low. Then you can start the engine! 👍🏼 (Hint: a broad flathead screwdriver works better to pry it apart)

@@user-mj8zf4qq7u Its probably the hood sensor. Make sure the hood is closed all the way. If it is, unplug it and see if the alarm goes off again.

Does anyone know how I replace the smart fob. I have the key part. The case part has fallen off somehow and lost..so I can still drive but cant remotely open and lock car. I was wondering if that case has my car info

Hi Samantha, you need someone to supply and code a new fob. I'd recommend talking to your local car repair garage that you trust and see if they can give you a number

Great video I quick question, recently the car is asking me more that usual to place the key in the ingnition buttom, could the low battery of the control be causing that issue?

Yes probably, if the key battery is low Ruben, then it will ask you to place the in the ignition. A new key battery should fix it

Super helpful thank you. I was actually on my way to the dealership for a recall and my fob stopped working. I was just gonna ask them when I got there (using my backup fob) and decided to google it first. Your video was simple and easy to follow. Cost me $3 for the battery and only minutes to do. I’m sure the dealer would have charged an arm and a leg

Thank You, It’s my wife’s SUV so I use the extra, the key keeps separating from the fob because I hang it on my belt loop, so I just keep the key out and leave it at home, does that somehow drain the battery faster?

Don’t put your fingers over the contacts I have found with the extremely low currents used by these keys any resistance caused by oil from your fingers shortens the life of the battery usually it doesn’t matter too much but for watches it’s critical.

followed these instructions and it took a tremendous amount of force to open. Now my FOB is broken into several piece and unusable. Cheap piece of Hyundai Trash.
