+rpandya97 this was the best ep yet... i ate this up cause its what the world really should be like... worshiping our future and its progress instead of the former... like the stats these sports guys know over what finance guys do and dont get cred for is kinda nuts... this was so good
Nope It just give me people more reason to complain about American culture The barrier to entry to becoming a teacher is unbelievably low, so much so that software can replace it Trying to indict American education policy by complaining about teachers compensation is so pathetic. Teachers are quickly becoming obsolete. Computers and books are all that’s needed. Teachers are just another drain on the system.
What job is not under appreciated? I don't know why we act like teachers are unique here. USA is spending more money then nearly everywhere else yet students are failing basic math/reading
@@kenzito101 Dude i'm a South african who only uses DSTV for sport. I some times kick myself thinking that we do get the Comedy Central channel and I have no idea what number channel it is.
It's true though! Pro sport athletes do commercials like this ALL the time! Especially during football season. I wish teachers were given the pay they deserve.
@@Tunercraze Define 'DESERVE' then? Pay teachers more, school fees go up more. Education is essential, football isn't. People pay more to find entertainment, while continuously crying about essentials being too expensive. A paradox that people create themselves. Want to be a teacher that earns the big bucks? Go teach at private schools or teach at the college level. Or get your doctorate. Same for every industry.
This is one of the best things I have seen so far, importance of education and teachers in our life was subtlely imbibed in this video, simply amazing.
Nope. It never meant to show the importance of education, just a funny sketch. You can't measure "education" with fame and sponsors like popular sport does
@@indowithbadenglish5677 on the contrary; it was a satirical look at what society values. We'd rather pay sportsmen millions of dollars over the people who lay the foundations of the nation's future in it's children. Comedy was the medium, but that doesn't mean it didn't have an overreaching meaning
@@DrRiq nope. It kinda stupid if we let our teachers become celebrity with bodyguards and gold everywhere. Because to absorb any knowledge, we sometimes must relate to the person/teachers
Kunaal Bakhtiani it was not subtle at all, but yeah, great use of humour here to convey the value of, or rather how education should be valued (not literally, of course).
To all the introverts saying they wouldn't want to be called on, the introvert in the video was engaged and wanted to answer. The teacher can tell the difference between an introvert who wants to be called on and one who doesn't. That's what makes them a top teacher.
@@anthonyvyfhuis4983 introverts don't interact well with others, especially those they see as inferior. It doesn't matter if you're a genius, if you can't play well with others people won't hire you. Sad as it is, in this world people would rather have someone with a likeable personality rather than someone that is skilled
To be honest; I feel that statement should be true. Towards all of the athletic fanboys and fangirls out there, can you honestly say that, after watching ESPN, sports in general, that these people should be paid millions for what they do? Surgeons and Doctors are literally life impacting, and for them to get the knowledge to save these athletes, they need TEACHERS. Hypothetical, insinuating this hypothetical immensely, what if another race of intellectual sentient beings came over and asked us why we pay athletes millions of dollars for them to frolic on a prepared field, compared to giving a minuscule amount to the educators of our nation who practically nourish the minds of the future. Thank you K&P.
+RaitheAirscape your point is moot. Sports generate an insane amount of revenue. Do you suggest we give the millions to the filthy rich team owners who are already billionaires or pay the players who provide the entertainment and have spent 4-10 hours a day since they were small children(many nba players start at the age of 2 or around there). Athletes work extremely hard to get where they are and if you don't think so I would suggest that you pursue a career in athletics since it's so easy and pays so great.
MrElectrifiedGaming You totally missed the point. I think we should be giving Teachers and Schools Billions of dollars for they're what provide the athletes the knowledge of comprehension first. I find it extremely asinine that we allow athletes to get paid millions for physical training. Yes, i don't agree with athletes getting paid highly for something that many people waste their time watching, and expunged their mental ability while effortlessly watching sweaty men/women exercise and play 'moot' recreational activities. If anything, they should be thankful for the people that adheres to their physical well being, (i.e. Doctors, Surgeons, Therapist) and also the technicians and engineers making the strive to advertise them through telecommunications. Seriously, it takes a genius mind to study and know the ins and outs of a human body, an immense amount of time to apply that learning, and also the grit to comprehend complexity. It only takes a few statements and kinetic regimes to tell a person a better way to play sports. Yeah, physical training is in there, but it's not like no one can do it, unless handicapped or disabled. It takes a teacher to teach someone how to play sports. It also took a teacher to teach you how to write and spell for your RU-vid comment to be posted, sir/ma'am, and I'm pretty sure your education is priceless to you like millions of others.
+MrElectrifiedGaming Dude, you sound ignorant, but I'm not going to judge you; do you honestly think that athletes needs to be paid millions of dollars? There is now a government tax through cable called 'sports Programming Surcharge ' and like me, thousands if not millions of other people don't watch sports. However, we're being forcibly subjugated to pay this horrendous 'tax'. Id be happier paying more taxes for military soldiers who should be paid millions for defending our country, and takes care of lame ass athletes who don't even bother to bat an eye lash at the ones allowing them to put on jerseys and sneakers and commit to doing suicides on a court and shooting rubber balls into knitted baskets.
It really says something about us all when the reality presented by a couple of comedians in a sketch show is leaps and bounds better than what we have. And the crazy part is that although everyone seems to agree, nothing changes.
Well, I mean.. if we're gonna be truthful, this skit is not any conceivable "reality", even in countries that have the best public education. "$80 million for the next 6 years with $40 in incentives based on test scores"? Lol. But it is a nice contrast because if we cared 1/16th of the amount shown in this video, we would be way better off. But the "reality" in the skit is much more than just "leaps and bounds" better.
I couldn't laugh because this is exactly how education should be valued! This is more like a fantasy than comedy. Magnificent job to Key & Peele & their team!
Menehune Beachbumboogie it actually isn't, there's no possible way for teachers to be paid that much for teaching high school. It makes sense for pro sports players to make millions, because they rack in the money.
@@mailife2875 lol what? I did not noticed that education would be valued in Venezuela or in former USSR. Actually i am from former Eastern bloc country and trust me that education was valued waaaaaaaaaaay less before we transitioned to capitalism.
Lol I actually wondered how this sketch hasn't been made before. It wrote itself long ago when people first started comparing teacher salaries to pro sports athlete salaries
Ruby Ruhf may have the fundamentals, but she's got no game on Mr. Garvey. He deserves this year's Substitute Teacher MVP after all those years unrecognised teaching in the inner city. Remember his big defensive play to shut down Jay'Kwelin, B'laké and D-Nice... all in the one move?. Not even A.A. Ron could bypass him with his trademark "1-2 insubordinate/churlish combo". Don't believe me? Well, Garvey just got his contract extended by none other than Principal O-Shag-Henessey.
abraham lincoln True the fact that if America valued teachers as much as sports stars, the relative level of education would be much higher, but conversely, teachers may do it for the money and not actually care to instill knowledge into the students. In any case, it goes to show how Americans would completely commercialize education if they saw people cared about it enough. Perhaps the fact that academia at large is somewhat of a struggle is a good thing, in the sense that it makes sure only those who are truly driven and passionate about what they are studying will succeed at becoming distinguished in their field.
abraham lincoln If America required as much competition out of their teachers as they do out of their sports stars, then this would be a much better country. Seriously though, hiring and then being unable to fire bad teachers is what is killing the education system in this country, not the amount they are being payed. If more teachers in America were as educated or as competitive as teachers elsewhere in the world our education system would be much better.
God Agreed I had my fair share of shitty teachers telling 10 years old kids they won't be good for anything else than picking up trash. But on the other hand, I had an English teacher, a science teacher and an economics teacher during junior high whom I really looked up to. Then at high school there was this English teacher I was constantly having arguments with until midway through my 2nd second year. By the time I made it to my last year we had mutual respect for each other and he even asked me to start calling him by his name. There was also an economics teacher at high school playing the bossy type but he really cared for all his students and on each final week of school he would cancel the classes and have us meet for lunch and have a chat with us about vacations, hopes and dreams, giving us advice. A really great man.
wadis b.abdesselem oh yeah..especially when they accidentally wiped the face of their abusive girlfriend on the floor of an elevator. now THAT'S humility.

This reminds me of a teacher I had in high school who was a true inspiration to us guys, as she was a strong performer not only in, but also outside of, the classroom. Well-rounded teachers like her deserve recognition for going long and hard in order to help young men fulfill their dreams.
I will never understand how sports players make so much money and people that do jobs that actually matter earn far less and never acknowledged when they do a good job
Travis Mohan They do get acknowledged from where I live. Some teachers gain fame by their unique and effective ways of teaching, then students come rushing in for private tutoring sessions. After the teacher had become famous enough. They open their own tutoring center and earn exceptional amount of fortune through tutoring and endorsement for the textbook industries.
It's all about economics and business. NFL for example, the NFL makes over 45 billion dollars. There's 32 teams that's over 1.4 billion each team. The team's have around 40 people on the football team, they have about 30 more in coach staff and front office. There's only about 1300 players under contract, so it's a really limited job. They believe they deserve to make a lot, and the only people stopping them from making too much are the NFL itself that sets a cap max. The teams have enough money to give to the players, and still make enough profit as well, so they aren't really worried about it. Sense the value of the NFL keeps going up, player value goes up.
Travis Mohan because sports is a mega multi-million dollar business with a very small percentage of people actually becoming professional athletes. Simple economics. Teachers on the other hand are plentiful, and theres actually too many of them in most places. It doesnt take much to become a teacher, but it takes everything (including genetics) to become a professional athlete.
Dominique Jacques they had to have sponsored it cause no way they can use the big names they do in there videos without getting paid... advertising ...
Yup, I was about to say, that *was* a BMW ad. And it was a really good one too, wasn't it. They should take it mainstream, though. What do I care about some athlete driving a car? That's not inspirational. Inspirational is a teacher, a doctor, a poet, a civil rights leader, etc.
Aw I loved the part about the teacher engaging the introvert. Teachers should try to do that more often; a lot of times I'd know the answer but was too shy to raise my hand.
Well teachers don't teach the right thing in today's schools because the government wants more employees to pay taxes, so the people that become wealthy realize this and decide to live a life of intentionality & purpose rather than survival.
Not sure about the whole world, but this was partially true at least in ancient India about 5000 years ago. Teachers (called Gurus) weren't GET PAID by the King of the kingdom, instead they had RIGHT TO ASK ANYTHING they want from the King. Gurus were most respectable persons in the society. In fact they would get more respect in the society than the wealthiest business man, the undefeated and most powerful warrior or the King. Because they strongly believed that the future and advancement of the society is heavily depend on the education and training given by the Gurus to their students. The relationship between the teacher the student (Guru and Shishya) were not only util the education period, but for the whole life. Shishya would ask for the guidance, with all respect, to his Guru anytime in the life if he stuck somewhere. That's why, at that time, Grus were not only teachers but also called guide (Marg Darshak) of the society.
I may be drunk at work and watching RU-vid, but this video has put the most bitter-sweet smile on my face. These people really should be revered like this, as their efforts are a huge part of what each future generation becomes. So this is hilarious to watch, but kind of sad because of the sheer lack of attention educators receive. Oh well, at least there's SPORTS!!!
They could replace teachers with many things, nurses, etc... the message would be the same... it's a shame society isn't like this... but watching people teach is just not exciting or entertaining
LunarXP Gaming lol we can afford to cut the military budget were not gonna die because of that. obviously you chose to be stupid if you believe were gonna die. that comment applies to you as well +Michael Mandeville. i bet the military has so much money that they waste some of it on petty projects just because they have enough

every time i watch this skit i almost tear up cause this really should be a thing, but no, titans ramming each other is what the public cares about so supply and demand.
it is sad when a logical concept like "teachers should get better than professional athletes" is shown on a comedy show. Ignorance holds back a nation from advancing in Technologies of the time.
athletes r smarter than high school teachers, they deserve the money they get, its simple to teach since its not really their problem whether the students pass or not, they can hand out homework and sit around for most of the day, then they get 3 months off every year, yeah its soooooo tough to teach (sarcasm)
@@SnowWolf90 Thanks for telling me it's sarcasm. Otherwise I would have never thought it was. Now that I know it's sarcasm, I am laughing a lot! Hahaha!
Jeremy Yap Yeah that should make the smarter people want to be the teachers instead of the bottom half of the class. Its not just teachers i'd say police officers as well. Better to have fewer well trained well educated teachers and cops. Sure that would mean increased class size, but that just makes collaboration more important.
With the amount of teachers needed it is not financially feasible. you didn't think p[as 'oh that would be nice'. What needs to happen is not make standardized testing so important.
PhillipHunsberger i was thinking more along the lines of pay. regardless why would that matter who would care. there are awards now and no one cares; in fact Disney does ,or did a teacher recognition thing on their network. you are just ignorant to what recognition is there. Besides some jobs are thankless
It's funny to joke about but our educational system would be so much better if we payed teachers more, and actually funded schools in low income areas.
Knight Solaire I know it's hard to believe, but some parents like to sit in and watch their kids learn. Days off are a thing too. Your comment doesn't make sense, speaking purely on numbers you could easily fill a small stadium with parents and family members of the Students and them watch their children compete with one another on their studies. If this existed it'd also get more parents involved with their children's learning experience. Like you never heard of the Debate Team, Spelling Bees, etc.
