I have only recently discovered this beautiful cover of yours and honestly, I am amazed by your thorough comprehension of this music! I can no longer tell with certainty whether you uploaded this video before or after Varg showed the main riffs of the song on his channel - but who cares anyway. I was actually deeply struck on a personal level by Varg's performance in that video (even in such poor recording conditions...), since only then I realised that the acoustic guitar could capture much much better that sense of magic, fantasy and wonder of which Burzum is truly all about. However, Varg constantly interrupted the video with his comments and I simply couldn't enjoy the music as a whole! But your cover of Key to the Gate achieves precisely that - transport us all to that corner of marvel from Varg's overwhelming imagination. And I really thank you for that, man.
Yeh i really want to do a remake but i don't have a good mic and i don't have an acoustic guitar anymore sadly :c. Maybe i will do one with electric guitar but with clean sound and maybe some experimental shits
I feel like the acoustic version is rather calming in a way, compared to the raw & brutal sound of the original song with distortion and fuzz. Awesome cover nonetheless.
@@Almas_Bakembayev I think it's about Varg's wish to enter Hel, the underworld. He talks about how he wants the key to Hell, and how "love is for those lusting after the sky", most probably about Christians. I guess it's Varg's want to be with the Norse gods, far away from the Christians. IIRC he did say that to him, the Christian Hell is to him Heaven, where his ancestors dwell, while the Christian heaven is nowhere he wants to be. This is just my judgement on the lyrics.
