Yup, not far from Cuba at all it's why Key West historically had strong Cuban presence since the 1860s. Once the richest city in FL because of the cigar industry.

Great video thanks. We were due to come to Florida in July 2020 from the Uk and we’re going to the keys. Obviously that didn’t happen. We are rescheduled for this year but I’m not even sure that will happen 😢 surprised to see that there were people not wearing masks. I thought they were a requirement inside and outside in the keys?

I live in Key West. You reported it all right...next time you’re in town you should hang with a local! ( me ) Wear your masks , stay six feet apart and enjoy your stay. You should interview our Mayer!

my wife and I were there a few months ago and riding a scooter around was the best thing we did besides walking around Duval St. no need in taking the train with the loud tour guide engineer to see the sites, rent a scooter or cart

Love Key West so much! Last time we went was exactly a year ago. Great drive from Tampa Bay! You should hit the Waterfront Brewery (only brewery in Key West) and go to Pepe's Cafe (near the harbor) for breakfast!

Thanks! I was there right after Christmas 2020 - good times. A couple other places I visited or walked by: Fort Zachary Taylor, Key West Cemetery, Truman Little White House, Basilica of St. Mary. There were nice sunsets from Mallory Square/Sunset Pier. Also had a lot of fun on Fury's "Commotion on the Ocean Sunset Sail" which had live music.

You must've been there between 2-4:00pm yesterday cause Gabrielle Wright was playing @ Captain Tony's! I'm part of the Conch Clan on his Wright On The Rock channel!! Join us Jay. Whalburger's opened last June. It was being built last January when I went too. I went to Hemingway's House last year but didn't see the penny! Must've been too many people when I went. I bought a Hemingway House keychain. I was in the very back end of his pool last year, sitting on a chair. It was so surreal & beautiful! Where did you stay in Key West?

Loved your video. Was in Keys 12/17/19 til 3/17/20 when every non-resident had to leave. In FL almost 30 yrs. and first time in Keys. Fav. is Islamorada & Marathon. More livable and that's my plan. There's so much more for you to highlight in KW, and hope you will. In my 3 mos. I think I found every nook & cranny worth exploring, but probably missed something. Much to discover historically. (Even checked out the KW cemetery.) Enjoyed driving around KW at 3/5am, especially Duval St. where I could easily see the art galleries, shops, etc. and meet & converse with several resident artist & writer "night owls". Hope you return there soon to explore more (the slave burial ground at one of the two beaches) and Fort Zachery Park, the historic Forts on Roosevelt, and maybe the Truman Little White House. Found Duck Key and Key Colony lovely residential locations, albeit pricey. Nicer than Port Royal in my current Naples. Need to return to Bahia Honda State Park & Big Pine Key, too. All in all, feel The Keys are THE BEST OF FLORIDA. LOVE THE KEYS' MANTRA OF "WE ARE ALL ONE HIMAN FAMILY". ENJOY!

Visited KW for 1st time Jan 2018. Weather was perfect. No car needed. Grabbed ubers or walked everywhere.1st night did sunset celebration in Mallory square. Grabbed a piece ( everyday for 4 days) of the highly addictive Kermits key lime pie. Did Hemingway house tour. His life Was way more fascinating than I knew. Visited Mel Fisher museum also very cool. And went on my 1st helo ride out into the gulf. It was an incredible time.

Thanks for the tour of key West via scooter. We were down before the pandemic. We took that conch train. Very crowded. I think we were there in November. Check out the lighthouse, Henry Flagler museum and reason key West is on the map: one of the best deep harbors in the world.

I've never been this far south. In fact, the farthest south I've been in the US is Port Saint Lucy, FL. Actually, Corpus Christi, TX may beat that by a little bit. I had no idea what Key West had to offer. I'd like to visit it some day. Thanks for the video, Jay!

Great look at Key West and Hemingway's home. Man, I got to get out there some day. I've read most of Hemingway's books. I think if I went to one of his homes I'd be overwhelmed. The penny story was a great insight into his tumultuous soul. He could be a miserable SOB but he was a genius writer whose insights into humanity will hopefully be passed onto every generation. Hope he never gets cancelled.

I'm being processed for military retirement and I have been in contact with Key West Naval Air Station , they informed me military retirees can stay on base and rent homes on base in Key West Florida so I'm watching all the video's on visiting and living in Key West Florida to learn all I can . Pre- Covid-19 plans was to take off to Vietnam and Sanya , China however it's best to scale back plans as tourists are still trapped in India , Laos and Solomon Islands and cain't get home to America as those nations have suspended all in and out bound travel and shut their borders.

In the mid sixties I spent some time at the Navy base in that area, Is there much information about that? I didn't spend any time in town then, wish that I had done that. Awesome video, I especially liked the part about Hemmingway's home.

They have a great light house and I have been to that bar before and have been to the Hemingway house where you find those cats.

We just got back from a Key West this last Tuesday and we already want to go back! We drove from Miami, highly recommend this to others if your going to the Keys, there is a lot of cool places to stop on the way!

That didn't appear the be a real Key Lime you got with the conch fritters. The Key Limes I grew up with were yellow, just like the ones at Kermit's pie shop.

That was so cool to see Hemingway's home and all his unique cat descendants. This past summer I remember when one of the many hurricanes this season was heading near the Keys a bulletin was put out that the cats were safely inside. I guess you can tell that I am a cat lover-I have 4. I also am a fan of Hemingway's books. I think I read them all when I was in school.

Oh wow, they got the rubber marks off the road in front of the southern most point. Folks were doing burn outs there back in October at about 2 am.
