The best thing about your coaching is it's based on real game footage. In the past I practiced so many things in the gym only to find out they're useless in real games. I wish I were more selective in absorbing what coaches told me but you don't know as a kid I guess.

As always, there are fantastic tips, Coach! I also always make sure to tell my kids to be sure to make sure their elbow rises when putting up a floater - some young players have a tendency to keep their arms a little too low and/or stationary when putting up running floaters, which results in a low arc trajectory and front rim misses.

With the finishing, another way to visualise it is simply pushing the ball, with your hand/palm shape never changing. The only motion should be your arm to push it and release.

@CoachFrikki

I mean it is pretty much just like a finger roll. In most situation you want to shoot the floater overhand. But then again some players (like Curry) have great underhand touch and can mix in high scoops to their floater bag.

Dope vid, maybe add drills/workouts at the end from across the internet that could help players practice these moves on their own to better interpret the info?
@CoachFrikki
@CoachFrikki 2 года назад
I've been thinking about that. Adding some workouts & drills to the channel. The thing is that I'm not a big fan of drills and workouts myself. At least how they're done traditionally. I think you should mainly improve your game through 1v1, 2v2, 3v3. As well as just fooling around w/ the ball trying out different things and working on your creativity. Create your own workouts to target the things you want to improve. That will develop more buy in, ownership & creativity than following a workout you saw online.

Underhand floaters aren’t necessarily used for fancy. They’re used for the lighter touch rather than overhand floater is based comfortability. Underhand is mostly used when in a situation where you’re to late for the floater but to close to get blocked for a layup

@CoachFrikki

Sometimes it's a big flick, sometimes a small flick, sometimes no flick. Depends on the situations. And players all have their own preference and style. Most often it's best to not think about it and just put the ball in the basket.

I'm an 80s baby has been... Had I not been a brainwashed 18 year old thinking getting money was better than my GED so I can be a walk on at a good junior college for two years getting numbers there and transfer over to THEN division one big name school as junior and ball two years there then boom enter draft best of luck to me....I would be all THRU this highlight reel cuz that's my go to one step in from the three line any angle off the cross if you guarded me too choose thinking I'm about to draw a foul so even if I did then I'd still be in motion of a shot I've practiced beyond belief on a double rimmed hoop. You HAD to be a shooter on this court(SW 13th Street UF Campus gainesville to be EXACT) and those that knew me knew my shxt was butter literally from any distance inside the half court as a jumper but on the three point line or one step in off the first step if I was able to cross you then it was deadly. I wouldn't touch rim it would fall straight thru... Let that sink... That's how high you gotta throw it for that to happen. But that was a land before time I'm 40 Dad bod swaggin two sons a baby momma and a nagging axx ol lady... So I don't have anymore knee caps😂😂😂😂 still got a jumper though. No lungs either. Shout out to Joseph Forte who went to North Carolina back in the day.... It's HIS floater I emulated and made my own.

@ahmedahmed1122
@ahmedahmed1122 Год назад
When you flick your wrist it limits the height of the ball it creates a spin on the ball two things you don't want on a floater. You want no spin and a very a high arc the way you do that is by shooting up and keeping your palm facing up. It makes a huge difference
@kirkpatrickg191
@kirkpatrickg191 Год назад
@@ahmedahmed1122 So many people use that flick, because it's more accurate, I even time stamped when Curry used it, and yes, you can get it high too
@kirkpatrickg191
@kirkpatrickg191 Год назад
@@ahmedahmed1122 I agree the high is limited with the flick, but the high accuracy is well worth it, it just means the playstyle of the move means you need to make more space to use it, which can be done easily by adding contact, adding different footwork's, being able to use it as a counter, and being able to fake the floater and shooting it from further back, as that's what the accuracy gives the ability to do
