As a songwriter myself... It's easy. IDC if I sent it to you first. IDC how long it took you to record it. IF YOU DIDN'T PAY FOR EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS, IT'S NOT YOURS. Keyshia could have communicated that she wanted to pay for exclusive rights to the song so it wouldn't be sold to anybody else & they could have discussed drafting a contract with their lawyers, but she knows that would cost more money so she held out. That's the risk you take. With Priscilla already being a huge songwriter though, she most likely would not sell anything exclusively because she knows people are already checking for her. I mean, the girl wrote some of Rihanna's biggest hits! Why is it that if I write a song, I can't shop it to anyone else, but they have the freedom to bump my song off of their album with short notice at their leisure?? Us creatives that work behind the scenes always have to be put in limbo until they decide if they even want to release the song or not. Communication seems to be one-sided with these artists... and honestly, she probably wouldn't have even kept the song. She's just mad because it blew up.

The SONGWRITER OR PRODUCER of a song/beat is NOT OBLIGATED TO SIT ON ANY SONGS THEY'VE CREATED unless there is a contract with clear understanding of this, or clear understanding that it will be PURCHASED AND SECURED. There was nothing shady about this, just Keyshia being IGNORANT to the process (she claims herself that she is not use to working with writers and ask for a producer to tell her wassup) and no CLEAR communication on whether she wanted the track OR NOT.

Easy a beat and song isn't yours until you come to an agreement and purchase them. Just because you have a session and vibe doesn't make it yours unless you wrote, co-wrote, produced, or co-produced it.

She’s the songwriter on the song. If she originally owns the rights to the song, she can do what she wants with it. That’s why you sometimes have two versions of a song. It’s usually the original songwriter and their version and then whoever they want to sing it. Overall, she has the rights to it so she is still the owner of it. She can remix it, have someone different sing it or whatever. It’s her song. It sound better with her voice on it anyway. If keyshia wanted it, she should’ve asked to pay for it. Keyshia you are one of the best singer/songwriters this world has right now -- you asked for an opinion so here goes mine--- I think it is every artists responsibility to secure an agreement before recording anything intended to be used for commercial purposes-- you want to think you can trust what people say but you can't--- so BEFORE you record anything hammer out a fair split with ANYONE you record anything with--- have that paper on the table , signed , sealed and delivered to yourself-- that way you won't have to deal with any he said she said issues that always interfere with the process and your ability to create-- anyone who has a problem with that does not deserve to work with you and is probably shady AF anyway
