It's cold here in the UK and spells in the man shed are short. The diesel heater costs more than the aeroplane. Still I'm making progress, but not without the odd mistake or two. If you're following my videos building your own aeroplane, make sure you watch a couple of videos ahead to avoid copying my mistakes

At least you found out about the mistake before you were done, and then found out. Enjoy your videos. Thanks

The stick mistake turned out to not be a mistake 😳

Cubby .Ask your local farmer where they get theirs but most oil companies where you get heating oil hold red diesel. 👍😜

Looking forward to the covering. I'm using a home-brew water-based covering system similar to the Stuarts System (Sub70... doesn't need to be certified) using polyester dress lining (65GSM) it shrank enough for a nice drumming sounding tension :) I have mounted a meter squared test piece sealed and painted... Super strong in tension but poke a hole in it and it rips easier than the raw unsealed/unpainted material... As if it is old and sunburnt with no "ripstop" ability. Think I might have been a little stingy on the sealing coats (trying to save weight) and the paint (water based) has absorbed into the fibers preventing the usual fiber stretch / fuzz as its ripping. More testing needed for me :)

Sounds like you’re having fun with the testing. I always wondered how much weight there really was in dried paint. A lot of the raw weight is the thinner. Now there’s an experiment for you 👍👍😁

@@FatParamotorGuy I did take weight measurements but ignored them due to the poor ripstop performance. (The weight of the seal and paint is not insignificant when every gram counts) I think a scruffy well sealed but thinly painted surface will be stronger than a thinly sealed well painted surface but then the polyester will get sunburnt much sooner with minimal paint and it will lose its "ripstop" qualities that way. I may have to find other ways to save weight. 😁

Any progression on your build? Just curious 😁

The black epoxy your using look like "panel bond" they use in the collision and auto body work. The only KFA Safari in the world that has the joystick with Peyronies . 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I think panel bond is a lot more plastic. This stuff is quite stiff but has a slight flex in it. Haha - have you a medical problem you’d like to discuss? 🤣😉

Are you or someone else test flying this airplane lol 🙏🙏. I have a ex-wife that I can suggest.

Nope - got some other mug to do that. Your ex-wife said the same about you 😉😉🤣

@@FatParamotorGuy I actually do have a private pilots license, not want to do test flying but can certainly handle it once it is all checked out. Dropped my twin rating endorsement about 10 years ago, logged around 2200 hours total. Can't wait to see your plane taking to the skies.

I've just watched the KFA installation video (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2qoPLc1lNXI.html) and see you were correct with the stick angle. Thomas got his wrong ;-)

+Mark Dakyns yes - it was picked up by Stefan on my last video. I’ve put it right again. 😊
