Complete lyrics: - 0:00 - Crumbling castle Meet me glassy eyed, blind, and divine Under a void on the ghost land The castle is a pimple on the face of the world The embers burned for ghouls to tread if you'd please try I see through the bricks, to the sea, crumbling castle Water's rising up, thick and green, crumbling castle Inching closer each century, crumbling castle Are we safe in our citadel? Look upon our condition, crumbling castle You would not believe where I'm from, crumbling castle We pray for the death, that does not come, crumbling castle Dug all of our holes in God's Acre, crumbling castle We have even said our last rites, crumbling castle Are we safe in our holding cell? Look upon our condition, crumbling castle We head to our extinction, crumbling castle The sounds of the constant lightning Would be enough to block out the Fall of the end of the world If it were not for our tinnitus from the bomb In the wind I sway, back and forth I'm brittle as an aged human being When my walls are safe from world weather The build forms into great nastiness Polygondwanaland I don't want to be a crumbling, crumbling, crumbling castle I don't want to be a crumbling, crumbling, crumbling castle I don't want to fall into dust I don't want nothing but to live on The ache inside my keep spurs me on I don't want to be visible Polygondwanaland I don't want to be a crumbling, crumbling, crumbling castle I don't want to be a crumbling, crumbling, crumbling castle On this very day, in one thousand Years the earth will be relative to the Sun and the moon and a new world will be Created, I know because it is written here I see through the bricks to the sea, crumbling castle Inching closer each century, crumbling castle Water's rising up, thick and green, crumbling castle Are we safe in our citadel? Look upon our condition, crumbling castle You would not believe where I'm from, crumbling castle I don't want to be a crumbling, crumbling, crumbling castle Don't want to be a crumbling, crumbling, crumbling castle Don't want to be a crumbling, crumbling, crumbling castle Don't want to be a crumbling, crumbling, crumbling castle - 10:46 - Polygondwanaland Goodbye kinsman, polygon I'm goin' abroad, gondwana Drift until I, polygon Get to my stop, gondwanaland Grand and never been Seen by man, veil of a dream We're gonna get there We don't need a whereabouts We're gonna get there Follow where the river runs We're gonna get there Polygondwanaland [Verse 2] Exit snow melts, polygon Float on rain drops, gondwana It will get hot, polygon Fasten seatbelts, gondwanaland Sand and mountains Unbosom its hidden hand We're gonna get there We don't need a whereabouts We're gonna get there Follow where the river runs We're gonna get there Polygondwanaland Polygondwanaland Can I see the eye That sees me? Could it seem More real? I dont think you can use it as you wish. Its a NoDerivative license, so you can copy and sell the album, but you cant build upon it or use it in a movie. At least thats my understanding of it, Im not a lawyer. Its a bummer, I really wanted to make some trippy animations for this whole album
@@bocatadeclavos1274 well, they did say they dont own the record so. i dont see why you wouldnt be able to pretty much anything you want with it besides claim it as your own lmao

Intoxicated, yeah me too! Exhilarated, ecstatic, astonished, dumbstruck, ... overwhelmed by ineffable beauty ... somehow connected to secrets of the universe just by listening.
I think the proper term is not open source, but creative commons, copyleft, or possibly freeware. "Open source" is a specific programming term, not applicable to music, art, dance or literature etc. It might be applicable to theatre and movies possibly.
@@Maclennon If anyone can legally use the tapes for any derived works and sell copies legally (while notifying potential buyers where they may find the original ones), then the music is freeware; if you are not legally allowed to use the master tapes for anything but private use, then it is only open source/proprietary; and if you are allowed to freely redistribute verbatim, but not use for certain derived works, or use for profit in certain ways, then it is some kind of creative commons.
Easily one of the most cerebral records I've had the pleasure of listening to. It takes you on a journey and immerses you in its tale in a way only few other concept albums manage to. I feel like they really nailed this prog-rock sound more than any other they've tried up until now, as it almost feels enlightening to listen to, as if some sort of four-dimensional being bestowed knowledge of like, cursed forbidden geometry or something onto you in song form. (Which is probably intentional, considering the themes of the album.) This is and probably always will be my favourite of theirs. It holds a special place in my heart.
Nonagon started as my favorite album but this is definitely it now. I want Gizz to do another album like this but it just seems so hard to top, I've had Gizz on repeat for months but this album realllly takes the cake
I don't know if this is my favorite album by the Gizz--that changes week to week--but it is certainly the most AMAZING album they've ever made! I can't imagine how much work went into composing, learning, and mastering this body of music. So many parts, so many shifting polyrhythmic passages--if there was sheet music I could picture it, but I doubt there was any. So fucking unique, challenging, and beautiful.
If there was sheet music, it would probably look like the one in the Catching Smoke video ^_^ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4L3-HOdMeuM.html
iirc there's a Reddit AMA they did around the time they were teasing Infest The Rats' Nest where Stu said Crumbling Castle took a fuck ton of takes to get right on the recording, and even more of them to play it correctly from memory for live settings lmao
I don't need a visualizer for this. Somehow this, specifically the castle in the air reignited my imagination. I see a train robbery. I see a boat chase. I see a heist. I see anything I want. Ffs thank God this was recommended to me.
Master musicians does a masterpiece! Just greatgreatgreat! Thx a lot sis & bros. Love&Peace ❤🙏🕉✌🇨🇭🤗💪🔥🔥🔥 I'm age 68, great Fan of Gong...and thousends more Bands...also KGATWL!!!
I agree partially, although they might not be as well known as other modern rock bands, I'd say they're famous enough to have embarked on a world tour this year. I'm ecstatic to go see them in Vancouver this October!
@@TomasJonssonPlus All I mean is they're good enough to be a household name while music made by Disney bands out sell them getting rich in the process.I realize there's no accounting for taste but c'mon! It's criminal!
@@kevmac1230 I know what you mean, they're not famous, none of their music videos are past 10 million views, so they're not that popular, but I like to think they have a cult following. a small fanbase with a lot of talent and love.
I've never really enjoyed music like this before but I can't stop listening to this album. Music is weird lol - love it! I haven't looked for reasons to hop in the car to really just listen to music while I drive in many, many years, this album kind of reawakened that part of me.
Amazing. Lucky man, I hope I could listen to this for the first time again. It's definitely their best work. I'd suggest you'd follow with Flying Microtonal Banana and L.W.
ive loved this album for years but this might be the first time I REALLY gave it a listen with good headphones and payed attention, and I am blown away at how good it sounds, especially the inner cell trilogy, the fucking BASS TONE, can't get enough of this band
I swear, that was about the fastest 44 minutes of my life. Once I started listening, I just became enraptured with the music. My obnoxious brain that won't shut the hell up finally had enough to focus on. This was my first time listening to them. I'm so happy they have such a large discography for me to dive into. Man, I guess I'm finally getting more progressive sounding music finally. It's taken me some time of listening to a bunch of music before I finally am really enjoying how much progressive music breaks up the sound from what I frequently listen to. It's been a good for me. At a Ghost concert I went to, I saw and listened to Mastadon for the first time and I thought they were awesome. I'm definitely going to see if I can catch KGATLW at a show now.
This band has been my primary source of music for almost 2 years now. This one I actually only really started to like within the last couple of months. I don't know what took me so long though. I understand that this specific sound isn't for everyone but you have to admit that there is some very real talent here on all fronts. Such an incredible 44 minutes worth of music. The lyrics on this album really make me think
The thing i love most about this upload, is that you can view the most viewed section of this album. And its mostly flat which means people on average are listening to the full album, rather than nickpick specific songs.
I’ve rarely seen art so perfectly match the feel of the music as this 4th dimensional video game screenshot does this complex audio journey I’ve found myself lost in. Bravo!
I never expected this album to be so good. Here I thought sketches of Brunswick was my top kglw album. Loyalty is my top track of the album but they all are so good. I’ll be humming these tunes for next couple of months.
My go to ...so rad.... its like Jethro Tull threw his flute at gandolph..told Phish they suck... then gobbled a half of shrooms and went to a clutch show...in a 76 ford econoline 150 .
*phish doesn't suck you just haven't had enough acid* one day i hope phish covers some gizz. would be interesting to see what they pick to cover if they did.
Shit man, I keep coming back to this album. That riff just stays in my head from the first song. It has a very desert feel to it and the tonal shifting they do invokes that sort of hazy mystery caravan traveling feeling. Just an absolutely stellar band.
I see them as being the musical offspring of Frank Zappa, The Beatles, and Middle Eastern Music, specifically Turkish music. Didn't know much about them, and looked them up, and lo! I was right about the Zappa, Beatles and Turkish part!
Best Gizz record and it’s not even close. They have other records that don’t have one bad song in them but the cohesion and loose concept for this record paired with their best incorporation of synths yet (yes even including Butterfly 3000). Fans will always have their personal favorite album but this is the one I show to get people into the band and so far it’s worked without fail.
I mean i don't agree with everything you said, but YES YES YES the incorporation of synths into this album is absolutely PERFECT. It's everything i love about the synthesizers on Murder of the Universe, but without distracting stuff.
I think the fourth colour is yellow... Think about it. The three known ones are red, green and blue, and with them you make magenta, cyan and (supposedly) yellow. Let' examine these last three ones: - magenta feels like just a shade of red or at least a very close cousin (you could also say pink, which is light red). For example if you see a red object with magenta stripes, it just feels "red with brighter stripes" - cyan feels like just a shade of blue. If you see a blue object with cyan stripes, it just feels "blue with brighter stripes". We even say "the sky is blue" even though it's cyan - but YELLOW, though?! It doesn't feel like a shade of red by any stretch of the imagination. It's not a shade of green at all either. While magenta takes after its red parent, and cyan takes after its blue parent, YELLOW just doesn't fit in in the same way. Also in the real world, the fourth type of cone cell that human tetrachromats have in their retina absorbs YELLOW. Mere chance, or does it mean something deeper?!
@@pozda007 Well the subpixels in your computer screen are Red, Green and Blue. Also the three kinds of cone cells in your eye perceive mostly Red, mostly Green, and mostly Blue. They both use R, G & B to make ALL colors! The "Red, Yellow and Blue" trio can be convenient for painters, so it has become traditional, but it's not the only way, it's just one choice. Also saying "green is a mix of blue and yellow" doesn't mean anything: the colors you call "basic" can also be obtained by mixing others. Red is a mix of magenta and yellow! Blue is a mix of magenta and cyan! Calling any colors the "basic colors" or "primary colors" is arbitrary. But "Red Green and Blue" is widely used nowadays, and has some ties to our biology (the cone cells in our eyes): I think it's fine!
@@bloergk well cmyk is subtractive model, rgb is additive model, you can't mix apples and pears! RGB technically can't show us all the colors and it is meant to be used with screens only. Google that before jumping to your keyboard. Blue and red as well as yellow can't be achieved by mixing other colors, that's why they are primary. Again, not talking about rgb that is supposed to be used on screens only or even cmyk that is supposed to be used in print only. And dude, colors don't exist at all, it is just how our brains decode light waves of different lenght! That's why red color reaches the farthest!
@@pozda007 Sorry if I've not used Google enough before replying to you! I didn't mean to offend. I promise I'll be more careful next time! Thank you for explaining all of this so patiently to me. Just one small correction: Red can be achieved by mixing yellow ink and magenta ink. Blue can be obtained by mixing cyan ink and magenta ink. Otherwise, how could a CMYB printer ever print anything blue or red? Googling gamuts and questions about printer ink truly helped me make sure that was correct, so thanks for the advice! Also I'd love to get your opinions about cone cells. I believe there are three kinds (I googled it just to make sure!) and they're usually called Red, Green, and Blue (because that's the most distinctive part of the spectrum each of them absorbs: for example pure green is the wavelength that stimulates "green" a.k.a "M" cone cells most relative to the other two kinds). Is one of the cone cells truly Red? Is the other kind truly Green? Is the third kind truly Blue?
I clicked on this as I do with any random band that pops up in the algorithm, and within a few seconds thought hmm this sounds like king gizzard and then the penny dropped..
The passage that starts at 9:15 has really similar vibe to HIM's Sleepwalking Past Hope. I never thought I'd make any connections with these two bands.
Praise to the Elusive Imp of Fumbly Fingers and Luck Plane Lubricant for allowing me slip on that one random banana peel carelessly tossed on the formerly pristine path by some cheesy looking dot-matrix dude smoking a pipe that landed me by the Crumbling Castle. ...On first listen I especially love the opening and closing of this record, you have some element that appeals to me more than a lot of old school prog rock, (don't wanna lump you in anywhere but I can't help comparing).
An earnest sort of modesty? I cut my teeth on old school prog, and most of it spends too much time showing off with wanking solos. What I love about the Gizz is that they never do "heroic" solos. All the apparent "solos" are a part of the musical matrix--nothing but ensemble performance from these guys.
I avoided Gizz like the plague because all I ever saw was people hyping them to the moon and beyond, made me think they were the most pretentious thing ever made. Well curiousity got the better of me and yeah, this is pretty good.
