Comment on the school board issue: As someone who has worked to coordinate students finding a therapist, it is extremely difficult. If this school board member was providing services to students, she should have recused herself from voting on the mental health spending. However, i see nothing unethical about her providing services to students, especially during a shortage of openings. It is unlikely that her salary actually went up, rather just shifted from adult clients to youth. No, she should not have promoted her services at school events, but this could be taken the wrong way if she simply stated that she is a therapist for credibility on an issue.
