Not my word but this explain pretty good about the MV and the history: The music video is set at the end of the Nguyen Dynasty, the last feudal dynasty of Vietnam. Be inspired by the true love story between King Bao Dai and Queen Nam Phuong. Background MV was filmed directly at the relic locations in Hue such as An Dinh Palace, Dai Noi, ... In general, the MV was elaborately invested in the context, costumes, and sticking to the historical story. Through the MV, let's look back at this historical love story! - At the beginning of the MV, there is a wedding scene of King Bao Dai and Queen Nam Phuong in Hue city in March 1934. Immediately after that was the Hau ceremony for Mrs. Nam Phuong. The event of enthroning Queen Hau right after the wedding was an exception to the royal palaces in the Nguyen Dynasty. Because of the 12 previous emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty, the chief ladies have only conferred the title of Royal Highness, until they were crowned Queen. The ending of the MV "Can't Be Together Throughout Your Life" is just an ending when Nam Phuong Hoang Hau is meditating in the river. According to history: Non-Mong Diep also followed Bao Dai to France and died in 2011 in Paris. Ms. Li Le Ha later married a Frenchman. Nam Phuong Hoang Hau herself died in 1963 in France alone.

The woman is Empress Nam Phuong. Stepping up to be the empress, she's is only 19 years old and she is a modern Vietnamese woman with a blend of Asian beauty and Western-style. She was the first catholic woman to be conferred a posthumous marriage of the ancient Nguyễn dynasty. She's beautiful, talented, but even so, she could not keep the heart of Emperor Bao Dai. At that time, the Nguyen court failed, the emperor had to move from HUE to HANOI to become an advisor to the Vietnamese government at the time (but actually becoming a hostage). Mrs. Mong Diep (the pregnant woman) was the one who stayed with Emperor Bao Dai when he was in Hanoi, she is the one who "killed" the "one husband one wife" promise of emperor and empress. Even though not an official wife, Mrs. Mong Diep is still a concubine, she bears children for the emperor. The other woman is Ly Le Ha (the person in the grey picture with the emperor that the empress receive). She's a dancer, the former lover of the emperor. The letter is a fit of civilized jealousy that made Ms. Ly Le Ha feel humiliated forever: "Dear Ly Le Ha, I am thousands of miles away from the former Emperor, but I know that you are wholeheartedly caring for the former Emperor in Hong Kong. I pray that tomorrow's history will not let go of the former Emperor and will see each other again. Dowager Queen and I will be grateful to you our whole life." This letter makes people admire the intelligence and civilization, as well as the moderation jealousy of the empress.

The MV is based on the real story about the queen and king in Vietnamese history. 7:40 what written in the letter is "That is the truth, she is pregnant already". This is based on a true story of the last King and Queen of VN. This took place in the late 1940s. The queen portrayed in this tragic song paid the ultimate sacrifice. She married this King whom was not loyal to her. She knew all along, but had to look the other way. She stayed unmarried and moved to France and ultimately died alone in her bed. The letter basically revealed to her he impregnated another woman.

You'd probably be surprised to know that the great thing about this music video is that it was based on true historical events. This is the story of Bao Dai, the last emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty and also the last emperor of Vietnam. Hoa Minzy plays the role of Nam Phuong, the empress and a wife who bared his 13 children. Sadly, the story didn't go the way it should be. Fun fact: you probably didn't recognize her, but the King's affair was portrayed by the same actress in Huong Giang's series ADODDA.
