Looking back at this now, My ten year old mind back then had no idea what was going on. Little did we know this trailer was showcasing one of the most important scenes in the entire series. Also, one of the last spoken lines in KH2.

Also, when I first saw this, I was like........WTF? It has a COMPLETELY different atmosphere compared to everything that happens in the first Kingdom Hearts game. It feels so different. Badass, but out of place XD

anyone else get that feeling at 1:19 when Kairi is looking up at the sky, of pure amazement to the fact that, That's the ending of Kingdom Hearts 2 after both Sora and Riku defeated Xemnas and they were falling back down to Destiny's Island after going through the Door of Light that opened when Kairi's letter was read out loud.............(sighh) Kingdom Hearts is incredible.....

If you look closely at the TV screens on one of the buildings in the secret endings, you can see a image of what appears to be Kairi.

You know what, Versus XIII fits as being a KH game.

I love Kairi's tube top and short skirt combo. It really captures the vibe of living on the beach while also allowing square to show off the cgi because the the tight minimalistic outfit allows her long loose hair to take the spotlight as it flows in the breeze. These factors, along with her positioning on screen, the ambient sounds and the simple environment, just creates a beautiful scene that is still etched in my mind all these years later.

It blows my mind that just after a lighthearted and fun story in KH1, this trailer shows you that things are not yet over and are bound to get darker.

this must of freaked out the kh fans back before kh2 came out.

You know, some people always discuss if KH's over complicated story was like this from the beginning or not. THIS basically confirms that it was indeed. And that makes me respect Tetsuya Nomura even more. (despite whatever everyone says about him)

Coming back to this, it's so much more Final Fantasy, dark, and dramatic than the actual game was. Same with Birth By Sleep.

I love how edgy the secret endings were. They knew exactly where they wanted to take the series, yet they still gave us the cheesiness of the first kingdom hearts lol. Love it either way. I think KH2 was the best game in the series so far.

1:19 the sheer amount of atmosphere this shot and the whole secret ending creates is staggering especially with the comets which got emphasis in the secret ending but didnt show up in kh2 i wonder what the fandom thought of that back then, and what nomura was planning to do with it its nice to think about what could have been

I love how the opening of Kingdom Hearts 2 re used some of the imagery in this secret ending, like Sora in the middle of nowhere before the intro to Chain of Memories and that one shot of him flying above the sea.

I think nomura didn't really prepare his story, all he thought was, let's make a cool trailer first and let's improvise from that point, and add more plots as we improvise. While I appreciate that he managed to tie all the loose ends in KH3, but the plot is either incredibly complex, or actually simple but unnecessarily convoluted. If there's one character that reflects the player, it's axel, I laughed so hard when he mentioned that the plot is so complicated hahahaha. Is there any other game aside KH that spans for a decade with various sequels and prequels where the stories are deeply interconnected? Or Kingdom hearts is the first game in history ever?

No way. When every fucking word looks like an answer for all our question in this game. Old memories...this was incredible. More epic than ever with the first game and this secret video, in my opinion.

Did you notice that when Roxas throws his Keyblade to Riku, Roxas still has dual blades when they clash seconds later?

You get the first by beating the Hades Cup, sealing all key holes, and getting 99 dalmations. You must then beat the game. You get the second one by completing the Journal 100%. It will then completely replace the first secret ending once you beat the game.

The true sign of a great cutscene is that it makes you know even less about the series than you did before you watched it, I guess.

It's funny how there are so many quotes set against the Roman numerals that wind up being fairly minor dialogue. "What took you so long, Kairi?", for example, is something that I think Axel says when he kidnaps her from Twilight Town.

This is one of my favourite things about the kh series. Secrets! In kh1 there's the secret endings which are foreshadowing for kh2 and 358/2 also the unknown fight which is xemnas. in kh2 there is the lingering will, and secret endings foreshadowing bbs. in that game there is the mysterious figure boss which turns out to be young xehanort. hidden sneak peaks of future games in secret endings or bosses are so cool to me!

KH3 spoilers: I just noticed, the only main line entry that has Sora end with everybody else is KH2 when he shows up at Destiny Islands with Riku, KH1 has him with just Donald, Goofy and Jiminy, and KH3 has him... Alone....

The way that the music has alot of the major musical lietmotifs of Kingdom Hearts 2 a game that wouldn't come out for 4 WHOLE YEAR is insane!

I might've known this when I was a 15-year-old when KH1 came out, and in the years leading up to the 2006 release of KH2.... but, since then, I've thought THIS secret ending battle was part of KH2's secret ending, and I've spent the noon hours today researching the entire franchise -- including the convoluted story of all the "smaller" game/movie releases (so many prequels and stories that are both interquels/midquels, yikes), that I purposefully stayed away from until now... lol. Anyway, something brought me some clarity and I had an inkling to look up what KH1's secret ending was, and voila. Now this battle makes sense, knowing the story of KH: 358/2.

I've just finished KH1FM for the first time. It's my only experience with the entire series other than seeing tweets and trailers for the various games. I enjoyed it, but took it as some fun shenanigans, an ending that was a bit over the top ('this isn't even my final form' comes to mind), and left me with a measured desire to play the rest of the series. I didn't 100% the game though due to lack of time, so I watched these videos as part of the KH All in One's theatre mode, and that was when shit got real for me xD This secret ending is so damn different from the rest of the game, that's one reason why I'm in love with it, but also, there are things in this trailer that hint at things many years in the future. With how many games there are, and how convoluted I've heard the plot is, I had the impression the developers just added stuff as time went on without any sort of overall story plan, but this trailer suggests it was all planned all along, and that blows my mind! I'm mindblown right now! Simply amazing :D

I like to imagine what a KH fan from 2002 would think if another fan from today went back in time and explained the whole story of the series till the end of KH3 with yozora. I think they wouldn't be any more confused as a person who follows the story today to be honest.

When I was a kid and unlocked this for the first time, I was blown away. If present-me could go back and tell kid-me about the path this cinematic and everything it embodies (and would lead to) would take Square- I'm sorry, Squeenix- and in particular, Nomura, down, I bet kid-me would start crying.

If you pause and read some of the messages you will actually see lines from the ending of kh2 like "Is this the answer you were looking for" "We'll go together" P.s It's also kinda fun to read them and be like "oh i remember who said that lmao"

Okay, does anybody know where I can find that trailer for Kingdom Hearts 2 that opened with the beach conversation scene between Roxas and Xemnas (in Japanese, both wearing their Organization XIII outfits with their faces obscured and both of their identities unknown to the viewers) before turning into a full trailer to the tune of Passion that showcased all the worlds, villains, and different types of gameplay? It came off almost as a music video, with characters' mouths sometimes moving to the song lyrics. I can't find it for the life of me, and I don't know what the trailer was called.

I remember first seeing this as a kid researching on an explanation and came to find that it was a concept trailer for Kh2 and that it wasnt meant to be taken serious but then it was decided to be part of the game for some reason
