This is such a great display of grappling. I’m going to rewatch this a ton to see khabib escape that position again and again. It was beautiful how he cleared the grip on his hips and stood back up

Khabib really is one of the greats of mma . He is an exemplary display of self control and pure talent, not to mention wayyy stronger than he even looks . He’s a badass!!!
this is dagestan brother, everybody trains. even a small district called khunzakhsky (this place) has some kind of martial arts tournaments. it's baffling to me that other top UFC fighters are not going there to train themselves. it's the only way.

@neverwintersbard751 nobody who is 155lbs in the UFC is actually that weight. They dehydrate themselves to make that cut. Khabibs actual weight is closer to 185lbs or heavier depending on how fat he is.

I dont think anyody he trains with can get out of his side control and knee on belly and Khabjb was able to escape and get back on his feet. Non grapplers dont understand how hard that is to do but Jiu Jitsu players and grapplers know. Amazing.

Yes to me it appeared as though the big guy was taking it easy a little on Khabib cause he was the bigger guy. That's like a prime Cormier vs Khabib in a grappling match who would win? We would like to think Khabib but it's not gonna happen against a heavier and stronger grappler that's also highly skilled.

When okomoto asked geathje how it was like to fight khabib and geathje said he was so strong he didn't think anybody from 185 and under could beat him and that included his training partner and friend kamaru. And geathje though khabib was physically stronger and by a lot.

I couldn't take my eyes off of these two. Most ppl do not realize the incredible amount of leverage that was being exerted here. Two masterful tacticians going at it. I especially liked, when in the blink of an eye. The "bear" K.N. on his back. Did not miss his chance. When you are good, you no longer think. Interesting how Khabib chose a more Olympic freestyle wrestling approach to this match with a much bigger opponent. This supports the theory that good wrestlers with above average striking technique and power have enough tools to dominate MMA. A good grappler can take the fight to the floor or very close range and it will be hard for a more striking type of fighter to get the power and precision needed to be effective with their strikes. It is worth mentioning that Khabib is a master at closing spaces and not everyone can do it like that..
