I believe in an interview he said he did so because he knew Gaethje’s parents were close to ringside and figured a choke out on their son would be less painful for them to have to witness than a snapped limb. Talk about mercy.
Kabib is a prime example of a professional Athlete. Well behaved, good mannerism, respecting elders, humble, focused and the list goes on. He doesn't take pride in being the best. He gracefully accept it.
Man, I almost cried when Khabib won. I lost my dad this year back in February, so I could feel some of that pain. I was rooting so hard for him to win. Amazing character and an amazing fighter. He has many genuine fans around the world.
@@ryanalnaser914 you right lol i watched it back he said "nobody like him because he is stupid guy....but like fighter he's very good fighter" khabib was too much lol
Joe was absolutely right when he said the reason Khabib is a monster is due to his level of self-discipline. There is NOT ONE other fighter who is as disciplined in all areas of their life as Khabib was when he fought. And a lot of that he owes to his father and his religious upbringing.
It's really disrespectful saying "Oh, of course, if you're from Dagestan" as if only people from Dagestan root for Khabib. I am from the US and I root for that man because he is a role model, sort of like Muhammad Ali.
Don’t mind him, is the casual passive undertone of Islamphobia. You know the backhanded compliments lol. But of course they wouldn’t view someone like you (American) as a fan.
The problem is most of the western commentators think that 1. Everyone has a price 2. You just got one life and one prime and therefore you have to make as much money as possible during that time. The problem is Khabib and in general people in those cultures don't care as much about money as they do for old world charms such as honour, respect and religion. That's why Khabib never talks thrash, he knows at the end it's only the fight that matters.
@Artemis Exile Religion has helped many people save their life from disaster and find meaning in their life. Don't be disrespectful, especially when you see a honouroable religious man like Khabib is.
Wow! I never thought an Irish person would support anybody over Conor. I like your mindset i.e you’re not supporting fighters just bcos of their nationality. 𝑪𝒐𝒐𝒍 👍
@@Christopherdrums there's only so many times you can knock the bollox out of elderly men and cheat on your wife until I give up on him 😂 Seriously though, there are plenty of Irish people that don't like him. He was great early on, he represented Ireland really well and put us in a good light, but when him and his crew attacked Khabib on the bus it looked awful for us. Irish people were disgusted over it. Except for the scumbags.
@@Christopherdrums I know quite some Irish people, and Connor is definitely not a representation of them or their culture. Most Irish people are very humble in my experience.

Why would a man who lives his life in the name of God feel the need to throw out schoolyard talk. There’s a reason he doesn’t lose. His mentality is unparalleled.
"It doesn't matter what he gonna try, I always gonna smash my opponent. I only want to maul him, he always the same as every opponent" That's not trash talk at all.
@@dagee4772 Depends how you define personality. I guess for you is being cocky, loud, foul mouthed, and disrespectful like Conor. That's your western cup of tea. For me its being respectful, humble, and down to earth.
Khabib doesn't talk trash because he had really good parents that raised him to be better than that . To be a respectable man. You don't have to be a jerk. It's okay to show good sportsmanship. And I understand what sells fights. It's just that some people live by certain principles that don't compromise their principles for nobody. Those are signs of a good man. Again he was raised by good parents. And I never even had the pleasure of meeting this human being. Seems like we need more people like that guy.
@@anonimogt495 Andrew Schulz is a genuine guy and he likes Khabib. What he said is 100% truth because a lot of guys (mostly Conner fans) were following his fights to see Khabib loose. Khabib has made billion fans but millions don't like him for his different but charismatic lifestyle.
I never knew how good khabib was until he fought connor. I thought he got lucky, and started digging up on him and he completely blew me away. He's got a steel trap of a mind and a heart of a warrior. Gives me goosebumps when I binge his fight highlights. Now, he's definitely in my list of top champs. My favorite is GSP, btw.
@@loristnorton3723 I understand what you're saying. The thing is, Khabib was always good. It's just that he hadn't had the limelight yet, and neither given a title shot. Let this sink in. Khabib beat RDA in 2014 when RDA was in his prime. Then after he beat him in 2014, Khabib left on hiatus for 2 years.. and RDA became Champion in 2015. Because of some misfortunes early on, he had to made up for it later.. Because he was always the real undercover champion for years. And they all know it. I know people say Ferfuson was, and I like Tony, but he wasn't. Edit.. And you hit the nail on the head also, Conor pretty much hogged the spotlight when he came to the UFC. I mean let's be honest. It was all about Conor. And that's alright.. but it shows that it was all just a smoke screen. The UFC was making its rise and needed a poster boy. And I'll give it to Conor, he helped the UFC. but he also definitely hogged up the limelight from real talent. In all actuality, the LW title shot should've never been given to Conor. That was Khabib's title shot against Alvarez. Fact. I also believe, that this is partially what rubbed Khabib the wrong way. He was given the title shot and made millions.. and then left the sport to pursue boxing for more money. He never defended. And never returned the honors of allowing anyone to fight him for the championship.
@Kevin D That was unprofessional, totally agree... it is also true that the meath head Conan McGregor's n his associate did initiated the provocation.... I am positive it was a learning lesson for Khabib...
@Kevin D Out of this one time which was understandable after a series of insults on his family, religion, and culture from that tapping chicken, he always showed respect and professionalism.
Im from Finland and I have always rooted for Khabib...whats this guy on about here...Khabib has fans from all over the world, like Khabib himself said 'I believe I have lots of Irish fans myself' He wasnt wrong lol Ireland is not called 'land of the brave' for its trash talking people but for those who fight and stand against racism and fascism like we have seen them stand against fascist zionist Israel always...
I don't think you understand his mentality. Khabib is a very serious and devout Muslim, he has absolutely zero interest in doing a podcast with atheist Joe Rogan, who swears all the time, drinks and somkes weed during his podcast, and most significantly has publicly trashed Islam. It's never going to happen.
Personally I love when fighters won’t be talking all that shit. I’ve done martial arts and mma for 11+ years of my life and don’t get me wrong, talking your shit and then absolutely destroy your opponent, it feels damn good. However I will never forget, the first discipline I started was taekwondo. I remember my sensei would always say, “Everyone must choose one of two pains: The pain of discipline or the pain of regret.” I do not remember where he got it but it always reminded me to remember to be disciplined and calm. Love martial arts it’s a huge part of my life and i wouldn’t trade the experience or the people for the world 🙏🥋
Khabib is one of those guys everyone roots for to win. He's so humble, so disciplined and respectful. And all that plus his absolute dominance in the sport, thats why people rarely root against him. And when an opponent is talking trash to khabib, he stands his ground like a G, then beats them. No facade, no games. He's really about that. The example Andrew gave with Floyd mayweather... even though mayweather is also great at his sport, he intentionally paints himself as the villain to promote the fight. His whole gimmick of "money mayweather," people see him flaunting and they want him to lose. Then if he fights a mexican opponent, he intentionally disses them coming in with a sombrero to promote the fight. So then it stirs interest but it also has ppl feeling like "alright, dude is getting too cocky, he needs to get beat so he can shut up." To floyd's credit, he thrived as the villain
@@sb2h yeah well steve-o also made alot of money being a jackass, that does not make him smart. And no there is no comparing with those 2 idiots and any mma fighter they would get murdered in a cage. it's laughable if you believe that the outcome would be different
This guy has no idea. I'm brazilian and right now Do Bronx is the champion: amazing character, as classy as it gets, great history growing up in the slums. But if Khabib ever come back and fight him, it would be hard, but I'd root for Khabib. He has many fans around the world and not only for the athlete he is.
Rogan thinks everyones hurt, it's literally his job to shout out "He's hurt" guy probably can't believe his luck. I'll always love him for shutting down Dom Cruz when he said that Connor was trying to make Khabib tired lol yea with his face
@@sulbul64 nah Justin landed shots and leg kicks, Poirer kept missing at will and gave up the half of the second round onwards. Conor did better than both.

It's so strange to hear someone like Joe, who pays exceptional attention to his longevity, exercise routine and overall health, also accepts that he is in no condition to accept any form of real fight. Yet on the other hand we have Mike Tyson coming out of a 15 year retirement and still looking deadly.
Yeah I think it was more just Joe showing respect to the current fighters. Like even pro fighters smaller than him should be able to piece him up. Joe prolly could still be one hell of a trainer though if he was into the idea.
Im from Switzerland and still rooting for Khabib every time. All my Friends and people in my circle that watching UFC are true Khabib fans aswell, so what the hell is this guy talkin about.
almost is a pretty strong word but this always happens when you talk. doesn't it ever happen to you that you use the wrong word? by almost he meant that if the fight went for another round or two, people should just accept that Justin did much better than Conor and Dustin in stand up fight but Khabib is just too well-rounded, saying this doesn't mean I'm disagreeing with the fact that Khabib just ran through him and finished the fight.
Khabibs motivation is on another Level. His motivation is so huge. Thats the real reason why he is so dominant. His WHY...he focus all the things he is doing to that.
@Kevin D English seems to not be Dimas first language, cut him a break in the sarcasm and humor departments. But you gotta respect a man who can go without hookers and blackjack, especially if he can make his own place with hookers and blackjack.
@Kevin D We're all the same, no one's better than you or I. That reply alone shows you have commendable morality and consideration, all about how you grow and mature through life, in my opinion. Cheers my dude
@Chad Thunder you make it sound like Khabib owes his popularity to Conor which is not entirely accurate. Khabib’s popularity increased because of his performance in that fight and the way he shut Conor up after all the shit he talked not just because he merely fought him. Aldo fought Conor as well and look what happened to his popularity and overall career after those 13 seconds.
Khabib has one of the most badass trash talking moments ever. When he was destroying Connor and shouting "lets talk" after Connor ran his mouth for weeks before the fight. Then he choked him out and made sure Connor knew he was lucky a ref was there. Khabib is the GOAT
"almost had him" is a bit of a stretch, but the strategy was working in principle and he would accumulate damage. Gaethje probably would have needed one or two more rounds to significantly slow Khabib down with those leg kicks. But that's woulda coulda talk. The only fact that matters is Khabib took him down and finished him.
@@angelsjoker8190 bingo. It was a good idea that would work great against almost anybody else. Justin has beaten people that way before, but Khabib is Khabib for a reason.
it was very much like stipe vs jds 2...stipe was having a problem with his leg so he knew he had to end it immediately...if khabib had continue to absorb those kicks for another round then it would’ve been justin’s fight to lose
@@dogsbreakfast4952 khabib is almost always in a take down mode, it seems he just wanted to prove a point the first round and wear down gaethje with his base
Khabib also was sick and in the hospital days before the Justin fight, and didn't even had a proper training camp, that was his coach said. All this only proves how an amazing tough warrior he is.
Khabib's lack of trash talk reminds me to the phrase "when you're talking, you're not listening" that's smart, let the opponents talk big and you focus on yourself
Khabib's & people from the Caucasus region, their upbringing is completely different so it explains his behaviour and I respect that. The only thing when I talk about him with people they react on him like he is an alien or something like that.
Khabib is a positive example of a Caucasian guy. But there are also plenty of not so positive specimens, who are needlessly aggressive and arrogant. Ethnic Russians often times don't get along with Dagestanis and Chechens. But I guess it's the same as with any other ethnicity - there will always be pleasant and not so pleasant people of all nationalities.

No he doesn't. He's not near as honest and forthcoming as you fanboys pretend he is. He begged for the Conor fight for months and months all the while denying that he was doing it and trying to act like he didn't care about whether they fought.
@Gweelo Hernandez I agree completely. He told McGregor and Porier to fight each other and that he'd fight then winner then instantly walked back on it.

@@Murad-kf6zd Exactly... Khabib and his people are pussies that started all this. Most people don't even know the reason that Connor threw stuff at Khabibs bus. It was because Khabib and his people cornered and slapped around one of Connors guys. Real manly to gang up on someone. Then at the end of their match, two of Khabibs guys jumped into the ring and attacked Connor from behind. Khabib is a good fighter but he's not the silent humble guy people pretend he is. Ganging up on someone is the biggest bitch move out there.
What if that was the truth from retrospect, knowing Khabib had a broken toe and was about to have to put more weight on that toe to compensate for weakened calves. People don't understand how drastically a fight changes the exact moment a limb goes from ok to compromised. Now that might not be the case, but it's nowhere as crazy as you make it sound.
