Such a shame Khabib retired so soon. His fights vs Conor, Poirer & Gaethje were special. He looked & felt invincible. Very happy I got to watch his greatness albeit not as long as I would've hoped.
For the ppl who don't know this was Dustin's peak he was the best fighter in the world in millions of eyes because he beat 5 killers back to back and Khabib beat him say anything you want about Khabib's career but really his notable wins are really spectacular.
Dustin came up with straight 5 wins against killers and losed to Khabib same with RDA came up with 5 straight wins and losed to Khabib lmao this says a lot
Guys like Conor, Poirier and Gaethje are superior to Khabib on standup game, but much much inferior in ground game. Khabib will just eat all the punches with his rock hard chin, and dive for the legs and take them to the ground where he knows he will always win. In fact, Khabib never got anyone at the top rankings with excellent ground game. That is why many think that Oliviera would have been the most dangerous match up for Khabib.
When Dustin joined Joe Rogan’s channel, Dustin said he almost had Khabib (he was talking about his momentum right before Khabib submitted him). But from this video, the position that Dustin had Khabib doesn’t seem near a submission at all. Or am I wrong? Did Khabib almost lose due to submission right before Khabib submitted Dustin?
@@morrisku2525 you have to have them locked in with your guard if your hoping to finish a guillotine, even then how often do you see a guillotine get finished nowadays? The person being on top of you is what makes it difficult as they aren't being held down and can move across the body to relieve pressure if your guard isn't rock solid.
@@xavierb9061 thats a good point, I think he should have moved up to 170, he's a big LW and weight cut has hospitalised him before, will he come back though? I'm not so sure.
He's average at best on his feet. And that's only because the threat of his takedowns. Everyone with good reason is so focused & scared of the takedowns it makes him avg on his feet.
@@beans3158 I would but an alligator just ate my left foot, a rhino just stomped on my right arm and broke it, and I’m in the hospital because of a rattle snake bite
Khabib is a master of distance control. He maintained the right amount of distance so that he could always shoot a takedown or throw punches and slip out of a counter shot.
@@mustachesally4134 he feel very sad for poirier, he is looking everywhere and his corner. Thats why he grab his face to get him focus on himself. Khabib is not like mctapper with clearly mcgrabber. Grab short, grab fence, illegal shot. Same with olivera, grab poirier glove.
Everyone should watch min 3 to learn defending a guillotine. Khabib dropped to his knee, rolled left on to his hip then rolled back to his right. Loosening Dustin grip, got some air and the roll back ultimately bought himself a new position to get out. Little details on why he is the best grappler possibly ever.
Bro you took the words right out of my mouth. That was probably the cleanest, most advanced technical mastery of body physics that I've ever seen in my life
@@hiimfromthefuture1728 lol no, it's really hard to get a guillotine on a fresh opponent. And in Poirier case he didn't even have his legs locked arround Khabib body. It was a bad IQ move, Khabib or not a guillotine is always a high risk move
Switching shirts right after too, and Khabib went right up to him when Dustin had his head down and raised his arm up to the crowd. Definitely a lot of mutual respect between them
@@ettorebugatti9354 he absolutely made a mistake, but his defense was pretty brilliant. I actually missed it watching it live. I thought Dustin just botched the finish on the arm-in guillotine (like Woodley did against Wonderboy). You can't finish pulling straight up (like you can with a no-arm guillotine). You have to cut your elbow on the choking side in towards your opponent's ribs. That little flop to his hip that Khabib did killed Dustin's ability to make that necessary movement. It's a gutsy defense! I don't even know if I'd try it, but you gotta respect it.
@@ettorebugatti9354 It's not a mistake if you're skilled enough to get out of it. Especially if you're able to get out of it with even more of an advantage with your opponent's arms being jelly.
khabibs pressure is just crazy, you can see in any of his fights when people had him backing up landing strikes or away from the cage they did well.... problem was they couldnt keep it that way. dude was truly suffocating
When he gave the belt to Javier and his father for the photoshoot 😍...man, that was pure class and integrity. how many fighters can do that when they are on top? R.I.P Abdulmanap You raised a legend
@@ocsjc13 Jon Jones father abandoned him then came back into his life when he had money LMAO.. Jon Jones just had daddy issues.. Khabib father was a real man, and a real father.
@JustLion890 🦅сказал,что он дал гельятину нарочно чтобы Дастин устал.А Дастин,попался на одманку 🦅Хабиб, Джонсону, RDA тоже давал себя душить чтобы они устали.😅
@@ignacysap6507 huh? You asked me who’s the goat if not khabib and I said Jon Jones is the goat. There’s only one goat and it’s Jon Jones. But if Jon Jones wasn’t the goat than it still wouldn’t even be khabib lmao
@nba3927 because that's good sportsman ship they ain't like mgregor where their mouth sells the fights and they get personal and talk way to much shit mgregor ruined this sport
anyone who's ever been in a solid grappling match can just slightly imagine the exhausting pressure khabib can put on you. His speed , strength and skillset are just world class..
Islam was in a worse position and got out too. You can't say umatched when his buddy is about to shatter all Khabib's records ^^ (well except the undefeated run ha ha)

This is going to sound like a joke, but after having found the video of Khabib fighting the bear I can genuinely see Khabib applying what he learned in terms of pressure, takedowns and maintaining clinch dominance from the bear.
I always go back to watch Dustin boxing here. His combo are really hard to evade and Khabib actually had to do huge head movement with retreating. Watching this because of Khabib and became Dustin's fan.
There's greats every era bro lol Khabib isn't great Charles has done the exact same stuff as Khabib he's not special for beating Dustin, Conor, and Justin lol all 3 beat each other all the time
After watching what Khabib's opponents did to each other and seeing how Khabib bully them in the cage without shredding a tear or get a cut is crazy, he was something else
The UFC is reportedly finalizing Poirier vs Chandler for UFC 281. That with Izzy vs Pereira and Zhang vs Esparza makes 281 easily the best card of 2022. One of the best cards ever as far as I’m concerned. MSG is gonna be LIT in November!!!!
UFC 280 is the best card for me, Oliveira and Makhachev, Sterling vs Dillashaw and Yan vs O'malley. Main event is one of the most high stakes, high level fights ever put together I think
After the fight Poirier said that he never felt that Khabib was so strong physically and the reason is because Khabib never goes force to force he's like Akido what is using the opponent's power and slicking away from direct confrontation. That's an art that not many understands.
Pure professionalism between the two fighters too. Wearing T-shirts with each others names. No hurling disgusting disrespectful insults like Mctapper did
To me this fight was the closest Khabib ever came to getting caught. Dustin is a hell of a fighter. That's why I always found his fights with Conor fascinating. They're similar stand up fighters. Dustin has more stamina and is more disciplined.
but charles is the best . khabib ran away … khabib isn’t even a fighter anymore . 3 title defenses against strikers , he knew charles was on the come up and dodged a bullet with tony. lady luck was on his side
@@dukenukem7043 bruh you are a deluded olivera fan 😂🤦♂️ khabibs style mauls oliveras. And the fact your dumbass brought up tony "hold on I'm getting mauled by daruish, gathje and chandler brotha " Ferguson
@1:51 you can clearly hear Dustin telling them that if he explodes offensively Khabib will take advantage and go for a submission , mike brown ignores him and says we need to be more offensive on the feet now and you see Dustin get annoyed because he just told them that’s not a good idea , this is also how Khabib won the fight lol
It’s wild to look back at all of khabibs fights and in the end. His fight with Conor was his closest and most competitive fight. And it was almost Total domination the whole time still!! If only he was able to continue making the weight cut, he could have defended the belt a few more times and secured that GOAT position without question.
Conor closest and competitive fight? xDDDDDDD You on drugs? He mauled conor like it's nothing, didn't even get tired and finished when it got boring. The only competitive fight was vs RDA because RDA was a beast.
@Stevo Braden, the Conor fight was not even in the same ballpark as a competitive fight by any stretch of the imagination. He's had some what competitive fights relatively speaking but the Conor fight was not one of them. Conor literally did nothing the entire fight. Khabib even embarrassed him in the 3rd round by standing in front of him the ENTIRE ROUND. There is no way Khabib would have toyed with Justin or Dustin like that for an entire round. He literally had zero respect for the damage Conor could do after the first 2 rounds.
@@brennanbarber7469 i wouldnt call it noble. he should fight for his dad's honor. his dad told him he wanted khabib to become 30-0 . khabib failed him . and makes this mama says no excuse. i'm sorry but i don't buy it
Imagine after all that khabib didn't bleed. How can you get into a fight with one of the best fighters in UFC and not bleed at all. That's just crazy. If you think it's nothing, just watch other Poirer's opponents.
Just where he lives, how he grew up, how he trained, mixed with his religion equals such a massive amount of discipline, he could have stayed undefeated for awhile.
1:13 you can see Khabib shake his head to Javier Mendez with the neck crank he had. I think Khabib did not want to submit poirier the same way he did Conor and that showed just now.
This is not even the wild Khabib. He just played and won against Dustin and Justin. Imagine him at his peak mad and going crazy like he did Vs Johnson and Barboza.
@@Eyeofthetiger69 Charles has better Striking and BJJ, Charles would expose him on the feet and match him on the ground (Although I think Khabib edges him by a bit on the ground).
@@Lucixn1_ - I think Khabib has a much better fighting IQ than Charles. I don’t think Charles would be a problem for him. Charles aggressiveness wouldn’t play out the way it did with other fighters against Khabib. Khabib would take him down and drain his energy with his wrestling and ground n pound. I’d say within 3 rounds he could sub Olivera.
@@aryanavan4989 Fair point, I think Charles has a decent chance if he were to keep the fight on the feet (I think he's the better striker), exactly like McGregor did. He'd obviously wouldn't go down with Khabib and trade hits on the ground during round 2 (it's what he does against his current opponents). But who knows, I think Charles could beat Khabib if he beats Islam. I'm pumped for UFC 280.
@@Lucixn1_ Mcgregor was also the best striker of the division but khabib had 1 whole round of standup with him. Khabib standup is avg but its effective he knows how to dodge the strikes even though it looks weird but its effective
