One thing I learned about grappling with the AI (and I’m not sure if this works for the amateur) is you want to try to fake your transition and once you see them stop defending you can continue the motion. Or if they are trying to transition during your fake, you can either reverse or block it. Hope this helps !

One of my favorite entries is to use the lead hand strike feint (RB+RT+X on X360) to jab (X). It’s like a jab-jab, so you can throw almost anything after it. Another one you can do is a lead leg feint (RB+RT+A) to body kick (LS-> + A). These are from orthodox stance, so just switch X for Y and A for B when you go southpaw. Also I think you should jab more in general.
