I was with my wife in Isfahan at the Bazaar and decided to take a nap on the grass in Naqsh e jahan and a store owner ca,e running out with hot tea and a small handmade carpet for me to lie on. It made me want to cry. The average American has been sorely misled or under informed. It’s a spectacularly beautiful country and the people are equally beautiful. Hopefully, when the government has been kicked out, more Americans can travel there and be enlightened as to the true culture. I would highly recommend reading the Charter of Cyrus which is the foundation for human rights.

i don't think i can comprehensively reply to your comments but i'll try to distil things here: first, i have no interest in nationalism from either side, whether for my country or for another country. i care about the people who are oppressed by a corrupt government and a corrupt police force in every country, and particularly in a country where things are being run by religious leaders instead of actual political ones. i don't know all of the things going on in iran obviously but i do try to be thoughtful in my approach and aware of the impact that my country has had on the people there. also i know the kurds are generally treated poorly because my partner has spent time working with ethnic kurds in person and has familiarity with the way things are going for them. they absolutely need and deserve to be supported by the US, and our last president who abandoned them was a disgrace. finally, i would love to visit iran and see the ancient sites, i'd just need a good reliable tour guide :) i've travelled a lot internationally but the closest to the middle east/levant i've been is greece and turkiye, so it would be wonderful to see ancient persia
