Khatia has a beautiful introverted style of playing. Technically perfect, the feeling and passion that she conveys make her work sublime. What a perfect way to relax, listening to her music after a day's hard work
@@anotherdepressedmusician I cannot dispute that, it is my personal impression. She seems to play for herself, she is so totally immersed in the music. What's more: because she is such a brilliant performer, such a totally perfect pianist, if it pleases her it can only be to the benefit of the audience. That is why I called her style "introverted". But one thing we must agree on: she is a joy to listen to.
@@rudyjakma3664 Oh, absolutely. This rendition is always extremely captivating and enjoyable. Per the point on introversion/extroversion, however, I'm inclined to define her style as more extroverted as she seems to be much more bold in her musical decisions, more outward in her expression. She can also be very spontaneous (usually in live performances) - sometimes this approach leads to a less refined performance or artistic conveyance/communication. I understand your logic, now that you explained it, I guess we were just using the word differently. I wonder if maybe you also agree with my explanation?
@@anotherdepressedmusician I agree, yes. The semantics are not important. The sublime interpretations of an incredibly talented pianist are what matters.
@@rudyjakma3664 well i think semantics like this are important if they hold weight to artistic quality - i think understanding the distinction between outwardly or inwardly focused communication is very important for musicians. But in general i totally agree, it doesn't change the fact this recording is damn amazing
I've played a few of Chopin's pieces, but never in a hundred years would it sound so beautiful as her renditions. And she's as lovely as her performances on her many recordings on my playlist. There are only 3 or 4 pianists I've seen on U-tube with her level of virtuosity.
What can I say about her performance? Many adjectives come to my mind, POWERFUL, OUSTANDING, IMPRESSIVE, FLAWLESS, AMAZING !!!! She is just a fantastic Pianist. God Bless her talent !!
I have discovered a new favorite pianist. Coming from a family of musicians, and a mother who was a concer pianist, who taught me how to listen and watch pianists, I think she would be more than impressed by Khatia. She FOLLOWS the music - no unnecessary rushing to try and impress with virtuosity- every note is exquisitely unique. I am hearing some of these pieces as though for the first time. Beautiful!
Among the many attributes that I admire about Khatia is the way she seems to invite us into her life, without being arrogant about it. When she plays, she invites us to feel the music along with her. In photos, it seems almost like she would be happy for us to join her and get as much enjoyment out of her life and talent as she does. In her interviews, she tries to share her deepest self as much as she can do so with mere words. Khatia is yhe best.
Her tone is exquisite, her interpretation marvelous. Love the quiet comtemplation that builds in intensity into a passionate storm. This is my favorite performance of this piece by any pianist.
So grateful to witness a true master at work, could hear the character of this piece so clearly, this Ballade always remains breathtaking to listen to and perform.
This piece reveals a universe of musical expression in just over ten minutes. For me, the most beautiful pieces in the piano repertoire. After closing your eyes, this Ballade will take you on a journey to a paradise with birds, sparkling water, the scent of the flowers and your thoughts on your loved one. This is how I experience this Ballad. Chopin, how blessed we are that you have lived on this earth..! Bilal Atabey
To reach this kind of level requires a lifetime dedicated to the art of tickeling sounds out of this instrument. I have so much respect for this and I am kind of jaelous because I guess I will never be able to play this beautiful piece. Maybe really listening to it on a deep level and resonating with it comes close to the experience of embodying it while playing it, like she does. Oh god it's good
I think most people really dedicated to the instrument can play this at some point but it's having enough skill and brain power to give every note this much attention that's probably out of reach for most everyone
Khatia is one of the best, if not the very best piano player in existence. I wish I could see her playing Beethoven piano concerto No.4. I haven’t been lucky enough yo find it.
Despite critic that have nothing to do with music and comes from purists who never new really joy of musical expression,Khatja is for sure one of two or three best young pianists at the moment.I love her interpretation and very beautiful tonal level of her performance.
wow ! the best Chopin Ballade no. 4 that I have ever heard so far. she plays each note so clear like foam of crystal and beautiful flowing. I am honored to listen your playing. I love you Khatia Buniatishvili as artist.
She's amazing at the piano, a truly master of the most demanding Rachmaninov piano concertos.I am just in possession of Kathia's album containing the 2nd. and 3rd. Rachmanivov concertos. I recommend this excellent album to all the Georgian pianist fans. Thank you Kathia for the intense music pleasure you have be given us so marvellously. 🌼🌸💐
Kathia you are a sublime pianist, a pretty woman and a incredible nice person. Unfortunately for me I only recently discover your fantastic work on the piano. What a rare talent. You have it all in fantastic level: thecnic, sensibility, charisma, repertoire, sympathy and beauty. I am waiting for the opportunity to see you in concert and if possible approach you for an autograph. My most beloved feelings for you dear Kathia. 🙌😘
I wonder what it was like to have heard, for example, Elizabeth Schumann? Or if she was as good? But I have this year heard Khatia. I was alive long enough for this, as if soaring on wings of an eagle.
@@adrianwright8685 A person who shows such a degree of feeling can never be a bad person, even if you do not know her. Are you always the same in everything, punctilious?
@@adrianwright8685 It's a valid question but in case it matters...I didn't personally meet Khatia, but I did see her in concert in U.S. in 2019. It was a smaller venue and afterwards, there was an 'artist conversation.' I stayed to observe it, though I was in the upper balcony, so did not ask any questions. She was very gracious during the conversation. She's obviously talented but also seemed warm-hearted. At some point, the interviewer was going to call on another person to present their question. Khatia politely intervened and advocated for another person to ask their question first, stating very graciously 'excuse me but, I believe she's been waiting patiently for quite some time now...' I enjoyed hearing her explanations and equally enjoyed watching her play live. Having witnessed many live concert pianists, I can still say...I've never witnessed such talent at the piano in person. It was absolutely spectacular!
She looks like Chopin. When Khatia first came out, I was enthralled with her Liszt Sonata in B minor. Her playing has changed stylistically. She is passionate, possessing one of the great techniques of our time. It is reminiscent of Martha Argerich.
I love Chopin! Very nice played! Khatia. Very romantic very expressive. I wish I could play like you.i can see on your face how you relate your music to the people. I could feel it. Thanks to the you tube for putting together the pieces I love most different composers. Thanks for playing. I love you!
this is just, speechless how good she plays this. I'm learning it and now I know who's recording I should listen to to play it at top level. Although I don't think anybody can come close to this.
She hardly, if ever, looks at the keyboard. Just playing it out of her head and with expression. Technically very accurate. She is definitely into the music.
I've been scouring RU-vid for the ultimate version of this piece and I have to say that this performance by Khatia is without a doubt the best. A truly stunning display of virtuosity, sensitivity, majesty, power and control. Brilliant! The only trouble is I can't stop listening to it now!
@@Martin-hs2eb Hi Martin. Thanks for that - somehow I missed her! A very fine performance - better than many, but I would say that it lacks some of the fire, passion and sheer magic of Buniatishvili's performance.
@@nothingd7832 Obviously he is an excellent pianist but perhaps a little predictable and unexciting. And I simply can't forgive him for singing along audibly while playing!
@@phantomlogger I can't agree more with you about the fact that Zimerman is kind of predictable. I must say though, as a pianist myself that has performed this Chopin work, that Zimerman has achieved a level of perfection in Chopins work that I can't yet understand. Once you hear his interpretations of Scherzo no. 2 and the other three ballades, you realize that his playing of Chopin is the most delicate, precise and musical. The fact that he singed along the audibly in the RU-vid video is part of the interpretation; hearing his breathing and the conversation that he is having with the piano is a way of adding something different to it. If you would like to hear his interpretation without singing, you can go to Sporify or Idagio. I'm not comparing him with Katia. I love her interpretations as well for being such a passionate and outstanding pianist (I love her Mephizsto Waltz interpretation). I just wanted to share this with you, since I'm deeply in love with Zimerman's playing. Regards from Mexico.
I noticed elsewhere people commenting on the clothing style of some of the younger female pianists, apparently not able to afford an additional yard or two of fabric. Let me make the counterpoint here: this suit did not distract, it was very elegant and made her very appealing as a musician, a pianist. Bis!
I've listened to every single recording of this piece on RU-vid - this one surpasses them all by a MILE. Her interpretation is emotionally impactful and arrested my attention from the very first notes. The recording quality and caliber of instrument are on par with the performer's excellence, and MOST OF ALL: at around the 9-min mark, she allows the thundering rage from the preceding measures to hang in the air, while each ensuing chord redefines the lingering bass notes - an effect you have to hear in order to truly appreciate. I AM IN AWE.
Like the majority of RU-vid most-watched pianists, she is young and beautiful, but this #4 Ballad interpretation has nothing to do with physical appearance: it is one of the best ever, at the level of, say, Rubinstein or Horowitz.
She is "Incredible"! playing this difficult piece for her looks like a walk in the park!! In my opinion one of the best contemporary pianist alive today!!!
