Khaya Mthethwa's Art and Worship Concert Review 

I feel like you might have gone for the wrong reasons, but of course, each to their own. In my opinion the only reason I'd go to a gospel show with all my favourites on the line up would be to experience the Holy Spirit move through them to us, the amount of songs and which songs they sing would not matter, as long as they do whatever the Holy Spirit communicates with them to do! It's not about big hits, and I would like to believe that the show was definitely not about 'fan faves' and 'big hits', from the Instagram lives Khaya had with all the artists that were on the line-up, the whole point was WORSHIP. But again, each to their own. Can't wait for them to come to Cape Town❤

I’m sorry that you spent so much money and didn’t enjoy yourself ❤️ I get the National Anthem thing actually, if you live in SA and understand what our nation is going through right now you will understand that we actually need the intercession (and that’s what our anthem is-a prayer) and it made sense that the Bishop does it. The Bishop may have been brought there for that specific reason, not to sing ‘Bow Down’ 2. As a worshipper, when sharing a stage with someone you need to be open to the fact that spontaneity will occur or rather the Holy Spirit will take over. Khaya ‘taking’ over the song could have been a result of that. Those two are a strong duo. They’ve shared stages where Hle sang the most of Khayas songs. 3. Live recordings/tours take forever and when artists aren’t the main acts they don’t go on stage for long. 3-5 minutes max. Imagine if Beyonce brought Ed Sheeran on stage for 30 minutes. It doesn’t work like that. I don’t think Khaya deceived anyone, he put up a poster with featured artists, and all the featured artists were there. Your expectations on how you would have preferred the performances to be were just not met, of which is okay, however I think calling a fellow Christian a liar and deceiver because of this is uncalled for, especially seeing that there are many other people who enjoyed the show. This was actually one of the most talked about shows in the Christian community. There are many other ways to express disappointment. We are one, we are a Christian community, let’s give each other grace. We won’t have everything figured out at one go. Let’s correct gracefully. ❤️

Nozi is an artist. She’s a worship leader and has been a backing vocalist for some time and she was in the Top 2 of Idols which is very huge and Jennifer Hudson loved her performance and shared it across her socials. She’s really talented !

Honestly, SA is just in shumbles and we need God to intervene. Alot is going on, spiritually we're under attack and I think it's valid that the national anthem was sung. It's a prayer. Sometimes we attend gospel concerts in the name of entertainment when thats not the purpose for them, rather to praise and worship, pray and be spiritually filled amongst other things.

I’m so sorry you didn’t have a great time and to your sister who had this as her first gospel concert. I attended the concert and I agree with you on some of the points you’ve made but I also differ on some. I hope you can also respect my views. The concert was messy I agree, from queuing at the gate to not being directed on where to sit and the sound that was not up to the standard we know. I think firstly the venue was not a great choice, it’s always best to have a venue where there are seat numbers to avoid chaos. We also had to move from vip seats because there was no one to point us to the right seats when we got there. The sound could have also been a venue issue (not sure since it was my first time at that venue) or their sound engineers didn’t do a great job and it was either too late to fix or it wasn’t something they can fix. I stand to be corrected on this because I honestly don’t believe any artist can allow the concert to continue when the sound is that bad especially if they’ve done sound check before. I think to say you were manipulated and bamboozled is taking it too far. Khaya didn’t lie to anyone, he brought the artists and they sang what they planned to sing. The sound didn’t work with them. It was Khaya’s decision on how he wants to feature them, I know some sang some of their songs. Khaya and Hle usually sing each others songs and American songs, I’ve seen them do this before. Alphi was there till the end, he closed for us. Yes he could have done more as a host, I also expected that. I think you are generalising when you warn others and implying this could be the standard for gospel shows because it’s not. I have been to many gospel shows and they deliver amazing experience. I have also been too few of Khaya’s shows before, he definitely delivers. This one had a lot at play, it could have been better I agree. It was not planned properly and that’s on Khaya and everyone who was involved in planning it to learn from and improve on. I respect all your views and I understand that this is your platform to share your experiences. Thank you once again for this. The worship leader is Nozi. She was a contestant on the last season of Idols, I think she was the runner up. She’s absolutely amazing ❤ I’m so sorry that you didn’t have a great time ❤️

I get it that the show wasn’t Kingdom Excellence level. And that’s unacceptable because misrepresentation of Jesus. Your narration is top tier but easy with the name calling. I don’t think it’s ok to assume you know Khaya’s why. It’s not ok to call him names. But Askies. Bad event planning is a nuisance so I feel you. Esp wen you’ve invited someone 💖

This is not a fair review. It is your subjective experience (which I respect), but a lot of things sound exaggerated (your videos dont match up your concessions, let alone the people who were also there). The last straw was when you complained about Hle singing how great thou art and Khaya "taking over her song", that's how Hle and Khaya usually perform.

Thanks for this review: in SA reviews are always viewed as attacks - true artists will make an inventory so that the experience is better next time . To those who have a problem with you, I suggest they record their videos (which will be amazing) so that they share a nice experience and we will also enjoy that .

I agree on the Alphi part. I also said Khaya could have introduced the show himself if he was only gonna be on stage for less than 5 minutes. Alphi has a lot of fans and I get that could have been disappointing for them. However, the show delivered on what was shown in the poster though. All artists mentioned were there. The artist is allowed to structure and deliver the show how they wish and according to their creative direction. And I guess that's where disappointments come in because some people will enjoy it and others won't. According to their expectations. In which case I feel all are valid. It's really our expectations that lead to how we experience things. And again, that's okay. But I honestly don't think we were lied to or deceived. The show just didn't meet everyone's expectations but it also exceeded some people's expectations. Artists are trying to build and I don't think they'd intentionally go out of their way to give you an unpleasant experience. Especially considering how much goes into putting a show together. Offer pointers on how they can improve sis, don't mess with their bag like that. You already said life is hard financially for all of us and I'm sorry you didn't get your money's worth but constructive criticism would go a long way. Not name calling and ruining people's brands. You are a creator yourself and your content won't always land as you wish or be received as you intended by everyone. And constructive criticism would probably be more appreciated by yourself from your subbies than destructive criticism.

I was at the show and honestly your video is very rude..it is okay to say your expectations were not met but to call people liars and deceivers because you didn’t get what you wanted??! I wish you could also post the whole video about the national anthem’ because honestly it was a beautiful rendition and prayer…you are making it seem like he sang the whole song from the beginning to the end when in effect it was just the prayer part of ‘o se boloke’

I understand your experience was unpleasant which is unfortunate but how did he lie? How did they prejudice people? Wait y’all every concert has VIP and General. Who is “they” when you say they were happy and who exactly are “people like you”? This is a genuine question, I hope it’s well received. Why should they say not everyone is allowed? Aside from the one guy at the gate who shared his own personal opinions that many people probably don’t agree with, what else gave off the feeling that “not everyone is allowed”?

I think the concert was amazing, just felt he could have done better with the food stalls, we stood there for so long only to be told they were only left with cool drinks and water... And sound was bad... But I enjoyed it so much.

I’m just here thinking what would you have taken back home with you had none of these occurrences happened . I know if I had the chance to be in the concert itself I would have taken the time to worship God and soak myself in the presence of the Holy Spirit I doubt if anything else would have mattered, not the national anthem which is our prayer to God as a nation , not Khaya “taking over “ Hles song which I see nothing wrong if they were in one accord under the influence of the Holy Spirit , not the seating arrangement , delays etc but ke that’s just me . Yes it was terrible and all as you have observed asizoyazi if others see it the way you do , I’m still trying to understand what was the purpose of you going to the concert. As a believer I know and truly believe all things work together for good , it worked out at the end hence the concert proceeded , that’s where we should glorify God that despite all the ups and downs God was praised , despite the challenges, khaya held it down and Jesus was lifted up . These are never really concerts but are platforms music ministers open up and give us opportunities to unite in prayer , praise and worship to God in truth and in spirit . I’m sorry for your money you felt like you wasted and your sisters first gospel concert experience that didn’t go as planned but I pray next time you won’t attend a gospel concert with a canal way of thinking and observing lest you miss your blessing in the presence of God due to the fact that the devil robbed you of time you would have maybe used to give gratitude and honour to God . Wasted my time watching this vid. Its unfair to call someone a liar and deciever, because of your perception of the message or lack therefore. Not invalidating your experience, but don't over dramatise it for likes or to draw a crowd. Not cool. You didn't have to go. The people that enjoyed are the people who were suppose to be there. This video has so much negativity in it. Wow… I understand that the guy at the gate was off putting, which has nothing to do with khaya because he can’t control what people say, but to criticise everything and anything is a bit of a stretch. Also calling him a liar and a deceiver is unnecessary and uncalled for. Your expectations were not met… sharp but he delivered everything he promised With regards to the sound: as a person that has seen Khaya perform many times and a person that has been around production teams, there is very little that Khaya could have done when he jumped onto the stage. The sound engineer has full control over the sound and if he drops the ball then that’s on the engineer. I could also see that Khaya was very frustrated with the sound because he kept signalling to the engineer. A word of advise: as a creative, if you want to criticise someone’s work or performance, make sure that it’s criticism with a solution. Don’t criticise and mess with other people’s lively hood by deterring others from attending shows and concerts because one day karma will come at you like a freight train Love & Peace ✌🏾

The bias and utter misrepresentation in this video is extremely concerning and really [in my view] alarming and quite frankly disingenuous. I honestly had the most amazing time at that concert… from start to finish. I thoroughly understood the concept. The concert was a tour of Khaya’s new album, the other artists were guest artists that aided to the new album and beautifully led us in worship. Where there sound issues here and there, yes! As expected from any concert. This video is really giving hater vibes 🥴 Bishops song was a prayer and we understood it as that. Khaya delivered 100% and I would go around the country to have that experience over and over again. Also calling people liars and deceivers only shows where your heart is. Kindly check your heart.

I'm with you 100%. I feel your pain. We can sugar coat it anyway we want but it was an absolute disaster. First the mic thing with Xoli and then let her go on and on without fixing it is a disaster. Khaya could have handed her his mic. The opening of a gospel show with Nicki Minaj's superbase is uncalled for. Taking over Hle's song and run with it is an absolute mess. It shows no respect for the artist.

I empathise with you for this experience, askies hle🤗. I don’t quite understand the point about deceivers when the artists were there. Unmet expectations because they sang covers, that sucks. Also the welcoming part… did you feel like in general you were not welcomed or was it specifically that weird guy with stamps? Cos I think a Christian organiser would appreciate this feedback but with better clarity. Were the people not welcoming or was it the VIP thing and the comment thereof that threw you off? Khaya and HLE always sing each other songs from way way back they do that even when there leading worship in there individual churches. Sorry about your bad experience however these concerts are never 100% in terms of organization but at the end of the day especially if you're going for a gospel one subject your focus towards receiving what the ministers have for you lest you miss out and come back frustrated (which is normal). I'm sure they did they're after reviews and they'll improve and do better on there next one.

It is misrepresenting to make it seem like the artists are going to sing their own songs and then they sing international songs because then what's the point of seeing them specifically live. You have every right to be dissappointed.

How were you manipulated, deceived and lied to. The concert just wasn’t presented the way you expected. Technical issues, organization issues gosh any thing can spring up when hosting a show, but your ending was harsh and disrespectful lastly VIP is a thing tis is life you held onto that offense instead of opening yourself up to receiving and hearing from the Holy Spirit and totally turned your experience sour.That gentleman probably doesn’t remember you or what he said though wrong and offensive. I pray you get an opportunity to do this again.

What a review. Sorry that's how you felt about the show. However, I think the show delivered what the artist wanted to do, but you did have expectations which were not met, which is okay. A feature is just that, the artists can elect to sing or don't sing with the featured artists. Honestly, I get you, but there are people who would disagree strongly with you, not to invalidate your experience, but also a reflection that expectations were not met (Not to say the advertisement was false - All the artists were present, how the musc was packaged did not appeal to you)- this is on the music ofcourse and not on the other things you experienced.
