Momentum around the Khaybar Volcano Camp in Saudi Arabia is growing ... it only opened in December 2022 so we just had to check it out! We spent a weekend travelling to Medina Province in order to see Khaybar, as well as the popular Al Ula Festival (see my upcoming video!)
Khabar Volcano Camp is pitched as a luxury tented experience... think Michelin-star restaurant quality food, minimalistic yet quality interior decor, ensuite bathrooms, WiFi and of course... views across the infamous Khaybar volcano field from your personal wooden deck. You'll even be privy to nightly folktales by local storytellers!
We didn't have time to stay (this time!) but the friendly staff let us look around. However, we DID climb the black volcano out back! This is one of Khaybar's most iconic and it was a challenge but SO worth it. There's no formed concept of OH&S rules yet with regard to Saudi tourism, so we capitalised on climbing the rough and rugged rim, which gave us spectacular views across the expansive Khaybar volcano field. It was not easy! Be safe and wear decent shoes!

We climbed same volcano two weeks ago. Later I googled its name is probably Jabal Qidr with height of around 2006m. The camp was totally empty. I hope it will stay the way that you can come and hike the area without paying any entrance fees and so on.

Yes that's the name! It was a completely rustic experience with no entrance fee, although I think the tourism sector is attempting to encourage tourists to stay at the camp in order to climb it. It is not easy near the top with a lot of loose shale/rock so I think that in the future if it becomes popular, they would likely increase its safety. I hope you enjoyed the climb! It's an incredible experience!

About the activity of the volcanoes in Medina province and whether these volcanoes have been quiet for thousands of years, well, you might be already aware that there are some other volcanoes in Medina province other than Khaybar, some of these volcanoes are pretty close to the city of Medina, one of the close volcanoes to the city of Medina erupted in the year 1256 and caused some damages to the "holy city", some of the 13th century Arabic chronicles detailed the horrors of that event, in fact a certain town called Al-Ayes, 150 miles northwest of Medina, was temporarily evacuated in 2009 due small earthquakes hit a volcano nearby it

Wow thank you for the interesting historical comment! I didn’t know there were earthquakes in 2009.

Just wondering if there are any decent facilities there like toilets etc.
@TheLensCapChronicles

Yes the facilities I can vouch are high quality! The Volcano Camp has an area for guests (and lucky hikers!) to use.

If Saudi Arabia supposedly is what I’ve been told it is, then it’s disrespectful to not wear headcovering in the country as a woman but there goes my manners, assuming a person with young, soft features, a soft voice and flowy golden hair is a woman.
