Khmer people were Hindus and Thais were Buddhists. Meaning Thais adopted Hindu culture from the Khmer empire, but deny it and insist Indians taught them (in what era)? Because Indians traded with Khmers during the Pallava and Chola dynasty, not with Thais. Thais migrated from China after that and adopted Khmer-Hindu culture.
Pre-angkor era, our country worship Hindu god and built temple for Hindu god. Then our king Jayavarman 7 accepted Buddhism and the whole country started to have another revolution. We challenged to each other, we argued about the belief. But the king is strong and internal was still in balance, and the country moved to the high and strong economy, thousands of temple was built, hospital, ancient bridge, hotel a long the way, high way from Angkor connected to everywhere. We still can see the infrastructure in Cambodia, Lao, thai and south vietnam nowadays.
In ancient times, teachers would broadcast dance performances. In ancient Siam, there would be a ceremony for paying respects to teachers and wearing a mask, meaning the student had a teacher. Till now, we experienced high ward, down ward, peace, war, conflict between our own people, and between neighbors. We all are known that this ballet dance perfomance was belong to Khmer empire and indian empire. We called it lkhoun Khoul in cambodia, it called lkhoun khon to thailand. Cambodian classical dancers are very grace full call absara . Her head piece with three point represents Angkor Wat reach to the sun and moon. When the sun rise , it’s rise behind the middle point alway to the top of the middle point. Siam dancers is not the same , it can’t be original as Khmer’s absara.
The performances of both countries are inspired by India. Thai people admit that some aspects of their culture and language are influenced by India. But Cambodians say it belongs to them. Even in the culture of Thailand, Cambodians try to claim it as their own.

Both are beautiful, but the only huge difference is the form. As you can see in the Cambodian performance, the dancers forms are curved; from their toes to their fingers, elbow etc. As for the Thai dancers they are curved, but not as flexible as the Cambodian dancers. Being a Cambodian dancers myself, we were trained at a young age to do stretches for our flexibility; to be able to bend every part of our body. Some may say we are double jointed 😅🙋🏻♀️

You Cambodians are mad at us Thai because you aren’t as successful as us. Plus since we separated from Khmer empire we became strong so why would we have the need to copy a culture from a cheaper, poorer and weaker country?
There are 853 Khmer words in the Thai language, while there are only 150 Thai words in the Khmer language.. Guess who taught who what? The carvings of the Khmer empire should answer that. Khmers have the most South Asian blood after India.
