I once faced a player twice in a row in ranked and destroyed this freaking noob. He used this desync trick twice instead of resigning, and he didn't lose any elo. I checked his stats and it was very suspicious (high elo with very low winrate). It's the only time I saw someone cheat in my aoe2 career though as far as I remember
