Kohler maxton sink faucet. Bought new house less than 2 years ago came with 3 of these sinks.
We have never had good water flow in them.
All other water sources in the house are normal and push plenty of water.
There were no other videos to fix this model.
Enjoy.

This worked! Some time ago I bought one of these faucets for a guest bathroom, not realizing it was purpose-built to be a "water saver" fixture. Immediately I was unhappy with the puny flow. I was all set yesterday to say "to Hell with it" and buy a replacement faucet. It occurred to me though that I might have the same issue with the replacement unit, so I decided to do a little homework first. I found and followed your video, and Voila! Problem solved. Thank you for doing the grunt work and sharing this with us!

I installed these faucets 1.5 years ago and have hated them ever since. I was actually getting ready to replace them. I assumed there was a way to to remove the restrictors but couldn’t find any solutions on line. Last night I watched your video. Thank you, thank you, thank you and my wife thanks you. Your solution was very informative, quick and easy and now we love the faucets.

Thank you!!👍👍 I have the same faucets. I looked them up and the Kohler site said the water restrictors are not removable. I messaged their customer service site and got the same answer. I asked my plumber and he didn't have an answer. I took the faucet appart and I didn't see a darn restrictor anywhere. I was ready to return them. But was able to find this video! I bought the Maxton faucet for its design, and I thought the guy installed it incorrectly until I searched online and found that several people had the same problem. Good idea. Thanks for sharing. I prefer to use the flow knobs under the sink for my pressure control. That’s how I grew up, lots of pressure there, just throttle it down to what you want or need. Your method works well for a shower head or sink that doesn’t have knobs to control the amount of water sent to the faucet.
@SkyroofNova72
@SkyroofNova72 Год назад
@@dadthefixerflorida excellent point to make because I actually tried that first before drilling the hole but the valve generated too much noise when I throttled it back to what I liked. I’m blessed with excellent water pressure so results will definitely vary.

This worked. The allen key was the tricky part of it. I was able to remove the knobs on my since it wasn't one solid piece, therefore I didn't have to turn off the water. I would imagine for one like this it's best to turn off the water valve because you need to have the knobs in the open position to make the allen key part alot easier. Thank you.

I have a Jacuzzi brand/Lindsay model that is just like this, so probably made by Kohler (your video came up from searching for mine). I had a frozen galvanized pipe under the house yesterday that apparently dislodged corrosion when it burst, because my toilet tank fill-valve is shot and my sink has suddenly poor flow on both sides. I thought screens just as you did, but now I bet it's the flow restrictor, just like yours was. You saved me a lot of frustration or probably about $100. I thought flow restrictors were in the cartridges, so I probably would have ended up buying a new sink after farting around and not succeeding in fixing mine. Thank you very much! Did you consider that you could leave in the flow restrictor after cleaning it? I rather like the flow of my faucet. The flow's about perfect when turned on high, and my kids can't turn it on so high that it splashes the mirror or anything to make a mess. But again, thanks for the video.
@dadthefixerflorida
@dadthefixerflorida 2 года назад
I thought about leaving it in… then I laughed menacingly and put it away. The sink lines have flow knobs that let me control the pressure under the sink. However I took out the flow restrictor in my shower head and it’s a bit harsh. I don’t have a supply line easily accessible so, I may end up drilling a hole in the flow restrictor and re-installing it. Hope you get your setup fixed.

@dadthefixerflorida 2 года назад
I don’t know the model number. The aerator can pull straight down, use a little force. Keep in mind that you will break off some of the fins by removing it that way. I didn’t find any benefits in removing it, other than cleaning it and removing the hard water crusties, ewe! Lol. Now that I know the part that I needed to remove, I wouldn’t take off the aerator.

I would guess that it’s the water pressure being too strong. Go under the sink and try turning the knobs on hot and cold down, the try and see if the noise goes away. You shouldn’t be getting a noise from removing a restrictor. The whistling must be from higher flow. Let me know if this fixes it.

You would remove that screw if you needed to get out the plastic aerator grid in the end of the faucet. However, you probably would also need a small "tool" that normally comes with the faucet. That grid may be made by Neoperl and, if so, you can get info about removal on the Neoperl website, or I would think Kohler should have the required info. You might have need to remove it if it got blocked by lime deposits. Also, once the flow restrictor/filter is removed, any debris that would normally be caught by the restrictor would travel to the grid and possibly collect there and block water flow or distort the stream.

Don't blame the tree huggers, blame big business. 80 % of water use west of the rockies? Farms, mostly industrial, much of which is alfalfa, used to feed cows or sold overseas. We're fed a narrative of individual water use restriction when our individual consumption is a tiny percentage of use. So people eat up the smoke and mirrors of you gotta cut your personal water usage and big business just keeps getting richer when they're using most of the water to make money. Tree huggers like water pressure too. I love burgers, nothing wrong with eating yummy dead cow. We need to stop sending our water overseas in the form of products making big business and stockholders rich.
