Khun Pai becomes a Monk

A man can be a Monk for a few weeks or even a month or two. Most Thai businesses allow unpaid leave so a Thai man can become a monk. Khun Pai chose 3 months.
Becoming a Monk for a man in Thailand shows his commitment to his Buddhist faith. It also is usually a precursor to marriage, with some families refusing to allow their daughter to marry a man who hasn’t been one.
Khun Pai goes to a monastery, in this case Wat Siripong in Bangkok where he is ordained by a senior monk in a ceremony known as, ‘Pabbajja.’ During the ordination ceremony, Khun Pai shaves his head and eyebrows and then dons the traditional saffron robes. He then takes the Ten Precepts, which serve as guidelines for monastic behavior.
The procession walk 3 times, clockwise around the temple.
