Hi..Here, the man is a Hindu and the girl is a Muslim. The anchor there was put there to showcase that her love was so intense that she is ready to leave her religion behind (by leaving behind her hijjab in that anchor when it was holding her behind).. for her love.

There is a very deep meaning / directional meaning for the anchor - the heroine is a muslim by religion , and so ,she appears in her "burkha" ( i.e. the Black gown covering her fully head to toe) , and she is supposed not to remove it and show herself ( i.e. appear without the black gown) to others,. And, the hero is a Hindu , and he does not have such restrictions. However, since she started loving him , (this song appearing at that junxture , when she confirms him that she loves him ---- and this means, her parents would not accept because, the hero is NOT a muslim, so , this has to be an inter-religious marriage, for which her parents would obviously NOT accept). So, while reaching him ,she does not mind leaving behind her religious custom of wearing the black gown, thus - director indicates that she does not bother to come out of all her customs , and reach Him. This is what is shown by the anchor and the Heroine struggling ,and finally LEAVING HER "BURKHA".
