I am leasing a KIA EV 9 GT Line. After multiple failures of the infotainment screen to start - thanks to this channel’s tip on how to reset the screen I was able to drive the vehicle, I had it serviced by the Swiss dealership. As the car was in for a service, some updates were also carried out, though I was unable to get details. I also mentioned the infernal inattentive driver warning that comes on at seemingly random times with an ignorable yellow steaming coffee cup symbol and an absolutely intolerable sound continuous audio signal. After the service the Driver Awareness line disappeared from the driver assistance menu. I just got back from a 2000 km road trip and am extremely happy to report that yellow inattentive driving warning has vanished.
I had my ICCU checked at the dealer on July 1st Brian on my 2022 EV6 GT-Line S and it was ready later without the need to change the unit. It's been charged since without an issue and behaved impeccably 😊 - as always!
My car has been in the Kia garage since 20th June to fix an AC charging issue and do the ICCU update. Despite mentioning the DCMS, they have consulted Kia and are just in the process of installing a new ICCU only. I'm really hoping this sorts out the issue, which is the first I've had with the car since we picked it up in January 2022.
Thanks, Brian. I can see the car is AC charging at the garage at the moment, so it looks like they've fixed it. I'll give the 12v a top-up when I get it home.
ECCU update om my EV6 today done with 2 year service. No problems just the software update. Dealer said that haven't encountered any failed units yet as apart of the recall. btw any news on EV6 map update?
That's good news. All I know is maybe July but they seem to have reduced the amount of updates they do now. Even Korea used to get 4 a year, they have only done one in February so far.
Hi Brian - excellent channel and thanks for the updates. Hoping you can advise or help on this one please ? Last week was cleaning my EV6 inside and out. Had all 4 doors open for over an hour but didn't have the ignition on or dash enabled. Must've been no more than an hour I guess, but finished and closed the doors and went back in the house. Later that afternoon, I needed to do some shopping and entered the car. Sat in the drivers seat and closed the drivers door. Neither the dash enabled or seat moved and quickly realised that the 12V battery had drained. I attempted to exit the car physically to use my 12V boost pack that I had bought as a bit of insurance. I could not exit the car. The door would not open. I tried other doors but would not let me escape the car. My boot wouldn't open nor the sunroof. I was trapped inside my own car with no means to escape and was panicking ? It did not help that it was an extremely hot day out - and in the car itself. I could not open the window to try the manual key option in the external door lock. I was in the car for over 30mins trying to escape and ended up calling my friend who lives over 30mins away. On his arrival, I had to guide him by mobile, to the cupboard in my house where the spare key is kept before eventually manually opening the door using the key. Do you know if anyone else has experienced this personal dangerous situation or there is a manual process of exiting the car on loss of 12V power ? keep up the good work championing the EV cause - best regards , John
Cheers John. What model year is your car? There was a recent case of this on one of the Kia forums, that’s the only other one. If the door doesn’t ,work then the boot is the other way out. See my video here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kO0f9x2c9lQm.html You could have also tried using Kia Connect to turn the AC on. That force charges the 12v battery and would enable you to escape. Even though the 12v is badly drained I’ve found there is normally enough juice for Kia Connect to still work so it's always worth a try. This is all very strange. The drivers door has a physical cable from the inner door catch which should have worked. Unless they’ve not manufactured the car correctly. This needs reporting to Kia & your dealer. I’d write directly to the CEO details as follows:- Paul Philpott Kia UK Ltd. Halfway Green Walton Green Walton-on-Thames KT12 1FJ I would also write to the DVSA to report the issue as it’s a safety issue. You can contact them this way. customerservices@dvsa.gov.uk Telephone: 0300 200 1122 Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm Sorry i can’t find their address.
@@evodessey Hi Brian, and thank you for your swift response - much appreciated :) its an EV6 MY23 ( Nov '22 reg ) GT line S RWD - drivers door def not opening despite pulling on the inner door handle numerous times - most in panic TBH - could hear the boot "beeps" as if opening auto from the inside and pressing both the key and internal boot release button but not physically unlatching - thanks for the tip on Kia Connect ( never thought of that TBH ) and I'll watch your video as a matter of urgency - although I will look for the tell tale signs ( seat moving and dash illumination ) before closing the door the next time - great channel - await your updates every Sunday and got the "bell" on for new updates :) keep up the great work on behalf of all of us...
My question is how did all of the doors become locked?🤔 since you got in the car. You can have them set to lock on meeting speed or entering drive mode I think but you were not even able to get the car to enter On mode.
@@evodessey Regarding your advice to use Kia Connect Brian to "turn on the a/c" and boost the 12v. battery - is that the "Start climate control" icon on the App? I can't see an a/c icon on the App Remote menu...?
@PeterSephton yes but you have to set the temperature low to get AC to come on in Kia Connect. So in Kia Connect it's the Remote tab, then scroll down to Climate settings to set target temperature, then press start climate
My vehicle's ICCU was changed last Thursday, then yesterday (Saturday) my vehicle failed the to start flat 12v battery so I have to trickle charge it until I can take it to kia .this is not acceptable
Sorry to hear that They may not have supported the 12v with booster whilst applying update on new ICCU. Probably needs 12v replacement now. Once it's totally drained once then it's next to useless.
I am very disappointed with the EV3 specs, I want a heat pump and heated seats, not that luxury crap; it will be interesting to see if they can be added to the lowest spec car at a reasonable cost.
@@The_Observer72 OK, if that is a special UK spec - I will be pissed, etc, etc. A heat pump and heated seats is vital to maintain range in winter - as you oop narth, understand. Sorry, I cant say that without a Northern British accent.
