Engine was recently replaced under recall by Kia, after about a month or so, it again developed a knocking noise. Customer bought it to us to have us take a look at it and see what we find.
I have a 2018 Optima 2.4L with 65K miles. So far ok, but maybe that’s because since new I’ve always maintained perfectly every 3,000 miles. It’s almost paid off and I dread this happening to mine. Should have bought a Toyota.
Wow! 500 engine replacements in a 8 year period and that’s just one KIA mechanic! That’s 62.5 engine replacements a year! Geez! And you almost sound proud of that? My wife has a 2014 Optima with the same engine I believe and I’ve maintained it myself from day one and it burns a little oil thus far!
@@jameswilson5238 I don’t make the cars so it doesn’t bother me at all. Just getting customers back on the road. 500 I’d also so is on the low end hahah welcome to kia
I currently own a 2015 Kia Cadenza it has 179,638 miles on it, and it runs great, the only thing it has the check engine light on since about 122K miles or so, I took it to auto parts store they check it for codes, and they said it was engine control module, but it works fine, and I've been driving it ever since
But the engine would not have displayed the P1326 code, am I right? So you are completely correct to keep an open mind and help your customer in a professional way. I would be upset too if I had my engine replaced and now this happened. For all reasons would there not have been additional warranty on the engine replacement? You did absolutely the right thing: Not making any assumptions. Well done!
Error code P1326 occurs due to vibrations indicating excessive connecting rod bearing wear. You can easily detect them using the KSDS (Knock Sensor Detection System). Since severe engine damage and failure are possible, this device notifies the driver about a preceding phase of bearing wear.
Its the Hyundai knock. Love it. .. Just pull the coil out of each cylinder 1 at a time while running.. Noise disappear then you know what cylinder it is.
I have a 2015 Kia Forte LX 1.8 with 327,000 miles on it, thanks to the damn Rideshare Industry. Car is in excellent shape and still super fuel efficient. However in the mornings when I start it it makes this "spinning-kinda" noise for about an hour and then goes away. Once the engine is really hot it runs fine and smooth. Any suggestions? I have never replaced the water pump.
People keep saying that their Kia Hyundai is fine. It's statistically probable that you're more likely to have expensive issues with this engine. Is it worth it when the dealers suck?
To be fair, the new Kia products have reverted to MPI engines. They recognized the problem with GDI and went back to something more reliable. I have a 2021 Kia Forte with the 2.0L MPI engine, I am finding it easy to get 4.7L/100km (50MPG) on the highway. They are making some of the most efficient gas cars on the market. I also paid $21k for a brand new car in the past year, which is amazing considering the prices of everything, and the Forte isn't tiny, its their mid-sized car. You can fit plenty in it.
@@BTin416 There is A current recall on your car that involves a bolt coming loose on the steering column that can result in loss of control. You better check with your dealer. Check yourself and for your safety check often.
@@eleventy-seven People should check recall lists for all vehicles regularly, it isn't a Kia-Hyundai problem, it is an every car maker problem. Thanks for the tip.
people should avoid the Hyundai/Kia GDI 2.0T and 2.4 engines (Theta 2) from 2013-2019. The 2010-2012 3.5 and 2.4 GDI engines also sometimes have issues but its rarer.
ok can anyone advise me??? im so confused, my 2013 kia soul engine is making this same exact noise, it never stopped running ..but i immediately had it towed to mechanic after hearing the noise. it came out of nowhere. my oil had nearly all leaked out or burned off without my knowledge. but there was a wee bit of splatter on the dipstick. i read that even if theres barely any on the stick that doesnt mean its completely out?? idk. car had absolutely nosymptoms til one day, at 101k miles, it started knocking. my mechanic didnt even go into specfics, he texted me and said something is really wrong. he said they went to look at the engine and pulled the fuel pump out and it fell apart in his hand? he recommmended total engine replacement but im so reluctant because he said kia doesnt even make these engines anymore. so if i buy one itll have to be used. these engines seem notorious. so how do i know my replacement wont have a similar issue? so i had the car towed back home. the mechanic warned me it wouldnt start at all now because of the fuel pump or whatever well that was a month ago now. its been sitting the whole time. tonight i was getting some things out of the kia, cleaning it out..sat in it and turned the battery to see it all was still well there. decided to turn the key and it still turned over? like ,i probably could have driven away ? still making the same awful knocking sound akin to the sound in this video but why did the engine still turn over? was my mechanic wrong? should i use my last AAA tow of the year to take it to get a second opinion elsewhere??
That customer got a new engine replaced under warranty, even though it wasn't the problem? LOL! With a water pump replacement those are some major parts, they just got lucky and will have a vehicle that will last them many, many more years. Would be worth replacing the transmission (if ever needed) to keep that vehicle many more years. Throw a new coat of paint on it and its basically brand new again. I'd paint it with real color like bright blue, yellow, sparkling burnt orange; none of this boring/drab white/black/gray/silver nonsense that dominates the roads today.
Dealership mechanics are thief's thir job is to make things fail..or make up stuff you do not need ..... first do it yourself if you're capable... second be lucky enough to have a honest mechanic there are a few out there
I took my 13 soul into the dealership, and they said they had to do two ecu upgrades. Well, the knock sensor and rpm sensor were switched, but it ran well. The engine ran smooth well. They switched the connections, told me 230$, then told me it ran well and told me to come get it. Well, they called me the next evening before i picked it up, the guy said. " i drove it to hardies right down the road, and it started missing. Missing so bad that it couldn't drive. He said there wasn't a code for the cats recall. i said i erased it, you have to drive he said i cant its missing too bad. wtf am i supposed to do im still paying on this car l.
Wow that's weird cause every long block I've done. You swap from old to new unless c. s otherwise... But never ever received one with w. p installed...
Right when I heard that I knew it was a pulley smh y’all need yours ears checked if you can’t tell the difference it’s as obv as a ricer compared to a diesel to me
Kia’s are a piece of crap! I will never own another one ever again!! I bought a 2014 Kia soul brand new, took care of it got everything done at the times it was supposed to and at 140,000 miles it started shaking and acting up really bad, I need a fuel injector, I replaced all four including my spark plugs at all the whole shabang done, it was still misfiring, so the mechanic said that they would have to do an engine assembly to figure out if it’s a fuse or whatever that’s causing the misfire, the cost to do all that was more than my car is worth, so your girl is looking at a new car lol ! Stay away from Kia’s.
