If you would have driven at 65 mph the entire trip you would have gotten the 310 or 320 range. Great video thank you.

Great test! I'm seriously looking at the Kia EV6. A lot of people are worried about the charging infrastructure but most EVs are charging at home. We've also heard that Electrify America is doing some serious upgrades to their infrastructure. And those rumors of Tesla opening up their chargers in North America. A couple cavets on the EV6. Only use I-Pedal (max regen) when in city traffic. When in ECO mode and highway driving, its more efficient in Level 3 regen.. especially in the AWD model where it will disconnect the front axles. Second one is that Kia is very conservative with charging curves on this new platform. Most people only see over 200kw charging when the car is showing lower than 10% and when the pack is not too hot/too cold. Maybe they will do a software update to allow more optimized charging and maybe even the Plug & Charge/Autocharge standard (to make it more Tesla like).

Not well known, but driving in I-pedal keeps the AWD engaged. If you are wanting to travel longer ranges, is better to use the auto regen levels on the right hand paddle. These adjust based on radar lock of a car in front of you. Which is a really great experience.

312Wh/mi (3.2mi/kWh) at 80mph seems efficient to me. Electrify America aside, getting 128kW at 71% is insanely fast. If the Kia's efficiency is high, its range is comparable to many Teslas, and the EV6 charging is faster, then is Tesla's superiority just the software and their equipment in the ground?

Agree that the efficiency is solid at that speed. No EVs reach EPA on most USA highways. Maybe the Taycan, because of the 2nd gear which is a big boost for highway speeds. Still, would rather not have a transmission to deal with. Anyone shopping for an EV, better understand what an EPA rated range MEANS. It is NOT what to expect, unless you drive the same profile of the EPA test.. which few do.. it’s just a guideline to compare from vehicle to vehicle.. apples to apples.. it does NOT reflect what YOU will necessarily see, based on how YOU drive. People always bitching about Tesla’s not reaching EPA range are morons.. it’s because they drive the car outside the EPAs testing profile. Because Tesla’s induce a fun driving experience, which is not how the EPA tests. If you drive it like the EPA test.. you will get very close to what they state, baring environmental differences.

@@barryw9473 when he gets to love a smart phone.. a week in a Tesla will ruin him for any old style cars. If living with a smartphone is an annoyance and he doesn’t enjoy that interface.. well, he will probably hate owning a Tesla if he ever considers it. That’s the line I generally I see.. I’m sure there’s exceptions.

Did he just paid $22.74 for 180 miles? Am I crazy or this is the must stupid thing ever, you pay thousand of dollars more for an ev, gets 5 years before it goes to junk yard and also cost more on charge then a 30 mpg car cost in gas? Not counting time on charging you spend.

Man, I love most EV's but the charging infrastructure just isn't there yet. If you cannot charge exclusively at home i'd think twice. Yeah sure Tesla has great infrastructure but it ends there; they are overpriced, ugly, boring, cheaply built, poor quality, poor fit and finish and not to mention the undeserved ego of those that drive them, more of an attempt at a status symbol than a reliable green mode of transportation.
