Kia K5 Map & Software Update Available For All Kia Vehicles 

For those of you who are on the Linux operating system, you can download the Kia updater in a Windows (or macOS) virtual machine. My Windows virtual machine (VirtualBox) wouldn't recognize my USB device for some reason so I created a shared folder in the VM between the Windows VM and the Linux host and downloaded the Kia Update to that folder. Once it was download, I manually copied the update files to the USB drive from the Linux host which worked fine. No problem whatsoever. I did not try to run the Kia Updator using WINE so I don't know if that would work or not but you could give it a try. The author of this video is NOT lying about the length of time it takes to perform this update in the car. For me it took two hours or so for a 2021 Kia K5 GT Line!!! Good luck!

Wow! What a thorough and very , very, very helpful video! I wish I would have watched your video FIRST before running to the store to buy a bigger flash drive. By the time I got to the end of your video and saw what the upgrade does to the radio graphics, I decided against it. I have a 2022 White K5 also.

I have a 2023 K5 and my user interface doesn’t have all that purple in it. I’ve tried updating as shown and I just can’t get it to work. It doesn’t even recognize that a USB is plugged in. I don’t have built in navigation, though. So are these new updates just for navigation and I have no software updates to worry about? But I’m surprised my user interface doesn’t look like every other low vehicle 2023 Kia K5 EX AWD in Canada

Do you have any thought about why active sound design don’t work on Kia K5.

Thank you for taking the time to make such a thorough and insightful video. I like some of the features you demonstrated and I appreciated your before and after screens. Updating the map feature would be the most valuable but I tend to use Google Maps on my iphone since it is quicker and slightly more responsive. I don't like the look of the radio display. I liked the retro look and the design that replaced it is average if not boring. If Tesla can update your car software while you sleep, Kia could have designed a simpler way to download updates without going through all of the steps you listed. Since I don't see enough positives, I am NOT going to download the upgrade.

Would this work on a 2021 kia k5 ex? My screen is smaller and would love the interface alone tho I dont care for the rest just want a better look if possible lol

I dont use the radio much and my drive mode has never been detailed like your previous version so i think i will get it

How to I update it to look like your screen layout? That's what I'm trying to get too. I'm following the steps but my screen doesn't even look like yours does beforehan. I have a 2022 Kia K5 LXS.

I have a k5 2021 gt line and I did exactly this and its not reading the update on the USB drive...

is this software also for the apple play ???

Mines says validating update files for a while then it fails to validate. I have now copied and tried 3 times and still says the same thing.

Has anyone observed navigation not working issue on older software?
