I've had my 2021 turbo-model picanto for about 2 months now, and I'm in love! 😄 So much fun and comfortness to throw it around and the low fuel consumption just makes me want to go on roadtrips all the time. I believe it will be even more fun when the summer comes. At the moment we have snow and ice here in finland.

Excellent review. Tons better than most of the major reviews. In fact, one of the best I've seen, and I watch a hell of a lot of them. The amount of detail you give in real world driving scenarios is brilliant: Going in-depth on the robotised auto, the ride, turning circle, mpg etc, etc. Keep doing these. Well done.

I used to have an auto DSG VW polo….twin clutch robotronic. Fine on the open road, fun even, but not great in town. Also the transition from stationary to moving….as per this video…the auto clutch was too sudden….traction control wasn’t great and would easily wheel spin pulling away quickly or in snow/ice. Had hill assist and slight inclines weren’t steep enough to activate the hill assist, and w/out a torque converter or equivalent on a cvt (which Honda use)….the car would roll backwards slightly and probably wheel spin slightly when it eventually figures out you want to go forward. Likewise the creep was too sudden and too fast. If you’re used to driving a regular automatic or even a cvt, you had better test drive an automated manual before you commit to buying.

One thing that's never mentioned in reviews (understandably as it's not really something most people care about and I only think if it because my parents have a disabled friend) is the weight of the doors. My parents have a friend who is disabled and every car she's had she's had difficulty opening the doors because of her rheumatoid. She's just ordered one of these because the doors are so light and there is an automatic version. She had a smart car on motability but she had to return it because its electric and she can't work the connector because it hurts too much. Although you are one of the eat reviewers I've watched because you talk about things people actually care about unlike a lot of car reviews.

I’m from Malaysia and instead of robot manuals, TC autos and CVTs are the norm here (manuals are a dying breed), so I’m wondering if that has to do with fuel consumption / emissions regulations etc that the UK market get robot manuals for a lot of the auto options. FYI, the Picanto here comes with a 1.2 NA 4-cyl with a 4-speed TC auto. I personally drive a ‘94 Camry with a 4-speed TC and driving it is as simple as “brake to stop, gas to go”, creeping through traffic and parking is no issue, does hills like it has hill hold assist (even though it doesn’t), so I’m curious to know why it isn’t popular over in the UK (at least from what I see on the Internet). It sure is sluggish and indirect compared to a manual (especially for an older model like mine), but it is smooth and has improved a lot over the years. Anyways, love your videos on both channels, thanks for your many driving advice, it helped me a lot! Good video as always and keep up the good work! Cheers!

The Turbo is a really sporty car, accelerates great in all the 5 gears, it has lower gear ratios than the 1.2 MPi. At highway speeds, the Turbo has lower revs. The engine sound is rough, but a lot lower pitched than the 4-cylinder, so even if you are high in revs, it doesn't make that loud of a noise. It drives a little like a Diesel, but it revs easily until 6500 RPM. I would easily recommend the Turbo, but you don't get it as automatic.

Went into Kia thus to test drive a used one to buy one to have as an instructor car AND LOVED IT !!! Alas RED D.School didn't want a kia on fleet, SNOBS, said branding couldn't be applied Fab cars, good for tall drivers, lovely to drive

What are you up to these days. You need to get videos out more often. Please try some mainstream cars also 😊

Nice video! All of your videos are great !!! I have the picanto 3 trim , shadow version 2022 and i think it is a nice city car. It is well equipped for safety and comfort and handles well. I just wanted to tell you that if you want a bit more fuel economy you can turn off the AC...

Really good review and has helped convince me to go for a test drive with the GT line. But must point out you kept comparing it to a VW Golf.. WHY? They are totally not the same size /type car ? A true/fair comparison is against the VW Up !! Then the VW polo? Other than that a good review from a young driver 👏

It's fun to see the export specs of my car. Here in Korea, city cars have government tax benefits. Instead, engine size is limited to 1.0 liter. 1.0 liter NA 3-cylinder engine in all trims. If you thought the picanto was a sloth or turtle, the Korean specs might piss you off. 😂😂😂

Fantastic review of how to drive an automatic firstly! Secondly, a little sad I can’t get the GT Line S at the moment in automatic - but am going for the X LINE S … I just liked the red detailing in the GT Line. Will come back and let you know how I get on!

Its a shame it's not 6 speed, would have made a difference rpm wise at 70mph.

Good fair review…one slight query ‘tho…why the comparison with a Golf…surely a better comparison would be with say a Polo or similar…I’m nitpicking now I know lol…good review overall 👍

I think the Golf/Leon has one of the better rides when it comes to normal cars. I've owned two Ibiza cars (Polo) and the ride was not as good.

What do you suggest Kia picanto or Toyota Aygo X?
@RichardFanders
@RichardFanders Год назад
It depends on your priorities. I'd probably go with the Aygo X out of those two.

@Richard Fanders , thank you for your reply. I need a car for commuting and shopping. I don't have small children. maximum speed I drive 50 miles per hour due to a speed lemit, don't drive on motorways.
