Title: KIAMBACU
Group: Kirima Cultural Dancers
It's a Mbeere Folkdance performed by both men and women during honey harvesting and nowadays during happy occasions.
This dance is about Kimundi Wa Gikanyi who is known as the best honey harvester. The Mbeere people are know for their bee keeping practices. One of the rules of bee keeping is that no one is allowed to harvest from another person's bee hive.
This dance narrates a story of a bee hive that was in the village, but the villagers did not know the owner. This bee hive had honey and due to the fear of getting cursed, the villagers could not harvest the honey. They then decided to look for an expert "Kimundi Wa Gikanyi" to help them. This dance narrates the process that Gikanyi wa Kimundi used to harvest the honey and the celebration there after.
