I like the edited in corrections. Anyone can make a mistake in a commander game, but this way we don't give viewers the wrong impression on how the cards work.
This isn't that relevant since Paul ended up winning, but I'm pretty sure one of the corrections was, ironically, incorrect. The one about Gabriel losing 3 life to Black Market Connections at 30:43... he made a treasure token, losing 1 life was the correct trigger.
I think at 30:38 was everthing right. He draw the card for creating a token (Commander Trigger). If he used both abilitys, he would drawn to cards. Great game Guys, i like your videos very much and they help me to find cool commanders or mechanics.
Would have been interesting to see how things would have played out if Greg had thought to phase out The Argent Etchings with Clever Concealment. I have a feeling that Paul would've let him live, letting the wipe happen and resetting Gabriel's board, putting Greg and Paul in the best positions to recover.
Hi Esmond/Quintessentialcommander, would you ever have a game of pauper commander ? the possibilities are insane, cause you only need any uncommon creature (even non legendary) ^^
12:36 Greg was trying to exile the worm with Abdel but that would still constitute the worm leaving the battlefield thus being exiled by his commander not Abdel I'm pretty sure. It didn't end up mattering but I don't think that tech works correct me if I'm wrong
Thankfully Paul ended up winning, because forgetting about that was a huge bummer for him. That would've been 20 cards in the yard, and exiling his own yard with Sin Konrad in play more than likely would've won on the spot with that.
At 15:28 gabriel draws two cards from Marneus? Why? I think he can draw only one, because its 1 card, even if more tokens enter the battlefield. Or do i missed another trigger?
@@andrewcalebmatso since it ended up going to the same zone and didn't make the target for abdel's ability invalid neither when exiling nor when retrieving, it works?
@@faroleiro1339 So basically because it says "if it leaves the battlefield, it goes to exile", since Massacre is already going to exile his commander's ability doesn't do anything because its going to exile anyways, in the same way that when it got Swords to Plowshared the effect still resolved because it went to exile. However, when it comes back after Abdel its a "new" object. When creatures leave the battlefield, effects on them are "forgotten". In the same way as, if someone gave a 5/5 creature -3/-3 until end of turn, then you used a spell to move it to exile, then bring it right back, the creature is a 5/5 again. It doesn't "remember" the -3/-3 on it anymore since it changed zones.
I know ya'll acknowledged the mistake, but drawing and making a treasure with Black Market for just 1 life 3 turns in a row would have been a big game changer - 6 life he would have taken (or not drawn the cards - that's the 2 life he wasn't paying)!
Really sad to see Zask misplayed, you get a ton of value by churning through the deck when little insects die :/ maybe we will see another shot w him. I wish you could loop caustic caterpillar lol
