Neil has been off the pace for several games now. This will be a test for RLB.......he must drop Neil and hopefully Browne will be fit . I also think the captaincy is too much for Neil.
He needs a good few months it’s not like just click your fingers he is a mint captain at what 22? Give him time he has been outstanding over last few seasons look at stats when he missed them games to back end of last season and also the season previous he was one of the best. Dan Neil isn't the answer. Sure he's a local lad who's came through the academy but personally i just dont think he's good enough. He was our worst player against Boro and today he's gave away a silly penalty. If Browne is fit i'd start him next game and drop Neil
Browne has been here a few months. Neil has played through some tough times always given his all. Anyone who says he is rubbish just doesn’t have a clue. Few bad games yeh granted but his work over last few seasons has been outstanding.

Seemed like Deputy Dodds had a big input in the tactics 1st half, had his stamp all over them from the shite we watched under him last season.. The 1st 2 substitutions were absolutely horrendous, both players that came on offer absolutely nothing & can’t even do it at U21 level.. so the introduction of both was absolutely baffling..??? Hopefully Browne will come in for Dan Neil also because his form so far this season has been terrible..🧐👍🏻

A strange one, yesterday. Why we started off so deep for the first half hour, I can't work out. It just showed that a change of tactics, after the goal, and we totally dominated matters. Rather than blame Neil, I would rather blame the tactical approach in the first 30 minutes. So long as we can kero our good home for (something which let us down, last season) then we can challenge for a top six place. I think everyone's been spoiled by our start. We need to get used to the ups and downs. West Brom getting beat off Sheff Wed shows what it's gonna be like for all teams.

It ruined my morning checking the result this morning mate thinking this would be our chance to go top. Its soul destroying when we lose you are right it ruins the weekend. I think they should give the arm band back to Onien. Lets hope they bounce back against Derby, two games in less than a week will be three games in a week, busy schedule but if i was a professional football player I would want to play every day. imho simple solution for Le Bris - drop Dan Neil for now (he is out of form) bring in Brown and make O'Nien captain. He has been off for a few games now - which hasn't been as noticeable when the side wins.
I have never been a Dan Neil fan but he is becoming a liability. Certainly not captain material. He never learns from his mistakes. Was constantly bullied out of the game.

I know Dan Neil has been looking a shadow of his former self but the reason that is for me is he is not playing in his best position. His strength always was going forward & creating & scoring goals. For me he should never be the holding midfielder. He has done ok there but it's not his strength. If he is to start it should be as an advanced midfielder. To answer your question I don't think why being the captain in football should affect his game. A captain is not as an important a role as it is in cricket. A cricket captain is making decisions constantly in the field whereas not so much in football. Just my opinion. Sadly my prediction was correct today, Vicarage road has never been a happy hunting ground for us.

After sitting though a very disappointed game, the more i think about it the more I believe we are now setting up just like we did under Dodds last year and that’s worrying. You are being too diplomatic Terry in regard to Dan Neil , harking back to the promotion season the manager rightly dropped him for the run in . He`s a local lad but that doesn`t give him the right to be in the team . I think the Captainship was given to see if that would help not hinder but it`s clear he`s just simply not good enough not only for his penalty gaff but he offers nothing . Still not amused at Poveda laughing and joking at the final whistle I`m questioning his dedication to the club at this moment. Great video Terry.
It's all margins, another silly penalty. We're still second, won 5, we just need to work on our concentration late in games and some player's need to be more disciplined, we're still learning and working things out. We need to bounce back on Tuesday. We could have 4 extra points but we don't. That's football. Bring Brown in if he's fit. You could even put O'Nien in there and have Ballard with Mepham.
Always thought and still do that Dan Neil is a league one player, whenever a problem or error comes when in a decent position it is always him that nearly costs us or costs us, whether it be a sending off, a pen given away or a dangerous free kick, he needs dropping
Dan, regretfully does not have the temperament for this grade or higher. He has reached his peak of effectiveness and is already on the slide to mediocrity ,at best ,at this level. Sell him in the summer and move on whilst he’s still worth a couple of million. There’s little room for sentimentality if we are to progress at a satisfactory rate.

It was gut wrenching today,as from the second half we should of got at least a point.More experienced figure in the team should be given the captains armband.Maybe given it back to Luke ONien. Unfortunately,as you say Dan Neil is performing below par and that was poor challenge today to give away a needless penalty.Especially when there was a covering defender. If Browne was fit I think he would lose his place in the team.
For me yes Browne is a built in captain, proven and should also be starting but the real issue.. no Jack Clarke.. think if we had him that is the missing piece and we win both those games!
Typical Sunderland again, West Brom lose and we have an opportunity to go top with a victory, Christ even a point would've been good enough today but again similar to Plymouth individual errors cost us at least point, I'm starting to worry now that we're starting to become that inconsistent side, we'll win then lose then win then lose, I hope that's not the case and it's again just down to an error but it just really pisses me off when we have an opportunity to capitalise and like always we never do, going forward when Browne is fully fit and Samed, Neil needs dropping, it's not just down to today it's been a problem all season, everytime Neil has played he's been the biggest weak link in that midfield, the Captain's armband is clearly to much for him and he certainly doesn't suit that defensive midfield role, I've said this in the past that Neil only thrives and looks really good when he's got experience alongside him, the fact that Jobe and Rigg are outperforming him week in and week out is very concerning and finally Tuesday is an absolute must win, I know it's still early but if we can't beat Derby then forget about top 2 and just try and finish in the top 6 if we can

Hi Terry, calm down lad, that's all I'll say. Aye Dan Neill wants six of the best off Regis for that nothing tackle. In his defence Cirkin was nowhere near where he should have been, he was missing for the first goal as well. Cirkin didn't play well at all. I would play Dan against Derby on Tuesday, but I would consider giving the captaincy back to Luke, he seems to handle it a lot better. Watford played great in the first half, I get we had stemmed the tide a bit when they went in front, but we totally dominated the second half. I felt that we would win the game the longer it went on, till Dan had a rush of blood and fucked us. Onward and upward, away three points against Derby.
Hi Terry , I share your pain ! That was a definite opportunity today .i normally agree with you completely BUT I think you are completely wrong about Dan Neil . He’s a young lad who I agree is out of form but he needs support from us not being made a scapegoat . Let the fans be loyal and support him - back him 100% and show that we care . We fans are too quick to blame . We are in a great position that none of us predicted so let’s show we are not fair weather fans and back Dan all the way as he is the future of our team - let’s not push him away .

You have to remember that Dan doesn’t decide he’s the captain , he doesn’t decide to play ahead of Browne - these are decisions the Manager makes so are we saying our new Manager is getting g these decisions wrong ? I like Browne as well as I think he’s different to the 3 we are picking however Regis sees them every day in training and he thinks it’s better to have Dan in there . We all have opinions and that’s the great thing but just want to support Regis 100% and not criticise his decisions already . Red card and a penalty in the first few games as captain is not good enough. Too young to be captain. His time will come but not yet. Substitutes made weren't good for me. But we move on as a team.
