First! Anyway, curious about how reasonable this is with the 6.5:1 tcase gears. Also, can you alumiweld or jb weld the cut section of the case? I can't weld aluminum... I plan to run 36s with the Toyota axles.
You could probably alumiweld it. Its not taking a lot of load but I'd want something more than epoxy holding it. Spending some time to get the gaps tight would be key but doable. the sidekick stock gears IIRC are 1.8:1, so with some 6.5 gears in the samurai case it should have a killer crawl ratio. there is a group on facebook called "samurai/sidekick dual t-case kit" that has the steel parts needed for the build, but they can be built with a grinder and a drill to be honest.
@MonkeyWithAWrench Thanks, I checked into the kit. There is some welding involved too, but it's welding up the aluminum case that got me worried. I'll look into it more.
