Hey girlies, loving the pod!!! A suggestion--I would also love to hear maybe just one or two questions from the patreon folks in the "general" pod too. Don't get me wrong I love the reddit segments but hearing from your listeners would bring a more personal touch, and also it could be a form of advertisement for the patreon pod, like here's what the bonus pod is like with the user-submitted topics. Just a thought!! Also a little taste of the patreon lyfe for folks who can't afford to be a patron!!!

I think the haunted house equivalent of christmas would be like extravagant christmas lights, being in the parade, having a santa come to your christmas party or like BEING santa at the mall, like really really intense celebration

Carly and Erin I am so glad you responded this way, I have an extremely toxic relationship with my mother. She is so selfish and I feel this from her daughters point of view. She tried to do something nice and the mother just straight shit on her.
I was at a haunted house once, and I got scared so I ran ahead of my family. I got outside alone and was cornered by a guy with a chainsaw who was like “oh aren’t you pretty”… nobody else was around so I was like wait is he even part of the event?? it was so scary
The mom is ABSOLUTELY the asshole in that situation. Yeah, maybe she liked a certain kind of bag.. but maybe her daughter thought she would like that one better? She even bought it so early that it couldn't be returned, so it's not like she forgot her birthday and just grabbed whatever she could find. As a parent myself, I think she should be grateful her daughter even got her something because it sounds like she has a shit attitude. And then to regift it to that same daughter? Absolutely not.

You can't make people feel bad for not feeling comfortable with someone even though they are helping you financially or emotionally. If others want to help you thats them helping you out of their good heart. You don't owe anyone any explanation why you feel uncomfortable.
