Kicking Up Some Dust: An Interview with Bernie Marcus 

Mr Marcus is spot on. It seems like so many people focus their energy on blaming everyone for their situation rather than using that energy to make changes. I grew up very poor, we wound up living in a tent in the woods or at camp grounds many times. By age 20 I had been in the military, gotten certificates, licenses, had some community college & was a mother. Even with all my experience & education I still wound up homeless living in my car for a short period. Instead of blaming everyone else, I pushed forward refusing to give up. I worked any job I could get. 10 hr days at the lumber mill, walking dogs, even worked at dreaded fast food places. I got off the street and later started my own online antique business. No I didn't get rich, but I got somewhere, I survived. Mr Marcus your story of pushing forward despite being pushed back and your family & business partners dedication to helping those in need is refreshing & inspirational (I loved hearing about what a kind giving mother you had). Oh and we love Home Depot, Thank you for sharing.

It's amazing how sharp he is compared to many people in their 60s.
