The last 3 minutes explains this. She didn't borrow the heal skills, she borrowed so many other lesser skills that her magic debt pawned her own personal skills to help pay the overdraft fee. Mage is even worse, she lost ALL her skills and is just a normal kid with a stick.

The Duke wondered if he’d been conned by the Party, while the others knew the party was to reliant on “loaned skills” that must have gone with their former “skill lender” party member. Altra forgot the rule: Always be kind to the lender in your party, because the fine print in the loan contract might do you in otherwise. And with all those skills gone as well as the massive de powering of the party (from S-rank to no rank), the hidden fees and costs also would cost Altra his team and his sanity (at last look in the translated manga he got the Duke to believe Marz’s supply run for the werewolf village was the prelude to a werewolf uprising, and he confronted Marz but Marz was ready to take Altra’s “Sword Saint” ability as the final insult for betrayal).

I can’t tell if that was intentional or not. Most people use snaps or claps to mark the start or end of a new recording attempt, then they just cut the audio (with or without video) after the peak in sound (which would be the snap or clap).

Well it makes sense as a lot of his Support was PASSIVE, rather than Active. If it was +X% to damage and other stuff they would. Yet all he gave then were Level 1 Skills. So they never appreciated his support. It's easy to get Entitled, just look at all the Business Owners who had to shut down Fast Food Locations, because they did NOT appreciate the Labor of the people who made tgeir store Function and Work. The guy probably had Low Self Esteem to begin with and his Party Members made it worse.

The normal video game trinity of tank, damage, and heal. Some games try to shake this up a bit. I played one that had a dedicated support role. One support in a 20 person raid increased the total raid group dps by 15%. even though only the healers had lower dps than the support. Anybody that looks down on support just does not understand what they do. Clearly, arrogant and self-centered people are in that group.

I like the touch of the saint losing her powers. Most of the time in most manga’s, saint characters who are involved with/commit some sin or crime keep their saintly powers so it feels refreshing to these types of lawfully good faith based characters lose that favor.

It’s simple, the “Saint” powers have got nothing to do with being “holy” (a major plot point in several stories), but are just a special talent. Being angry they don’t lose their powers when acting in a way that isn’t “holy” is like being angry someone with special sword skills doesn’t lose them when they throw a punch or someone with special attack magic skills doesn’t lose them if they physically attack.

The thing is…most “saint” characters in these stories have special healing skills, but just because they have such skills doesnt mean that said skill was gifted to them by a deity. Said individual could just have a better understanding of healing skills, allowing them to utilize them to a greater extent than normal. The “divine” skill could also just be a regular healing skill, cast multiple times on the same target to stack the effect. To put it simply…dont trust a bunch of highly religious guys in priestly robes that say something is a “gift from god” because _there’s a pretty good chance that their statements are biased…_ Its like interviewing 100 people that played Russian Roulette and assuming its completely safe, because 100% of the people you interviewed survived. If they’d lost…you wouldnt be able to interview them in the first place.

@@MaxGaming-gp6ijWhat they forgot was skill lending had huge obligations: the moment you break the contract, you must sure what you borrowed with applicable interest. And since the compound interest was HUGE, that meant after skill points, all skills you originally had were fair to be seized to try to repay the debt. When the alchemist found the skill lender was thrown out, she left too. Gordon was stuck in his room, Tina vanished and the girl mage became a normal girl of average intelligence. Leaving the former leader wanting any payback possible.

he didn't give them all their skills, just some of the most important skills, some of their strongest skills they did have normally, such as the main guys sword skill, but he cant use it without the eyes skill he borrowed to be able to see properly while using it. like all of their support skills and passives were mostly from him, but their main special abilities were their own. Without him they probably still been an ok party, but would have likely not reached the top, but due to the betrayal he took many of their skills as they owed him far more exp than they had to pay off the skills he had loaned them.

To be fair they did consider the interest, they just didn’t realise it was compound interest because the leader wasn’t paying attention when it was explained to him. They thought they’d still have enough points to pay off the debt and keep the skills, so they really didn’t see a downside

The art in this is legit great. Also, the characters are well done. The villains behave more believable and the heros (Marz, Yue and Shizuku) all act well written. I especially like that scene with him and the fat foreman. He healed him and only took the money he owed Shizuku because he doesn't want to be like him.

I do have to admit, this is one of those I love for taking the time to point out all the little things. They're killing him because he's going to cost the party money, not just cause, and they're doing it in this way because unaliving him themselves would cause problems they can avoid doing this. He stayed with them for the money, and the belief that they might make a better world, not simply because he's an idiot who didn't see what they were doing until he was kicked out. And they're now this weak because of what he did to them, which they earned themselves. Heck, a side bit even explains they HAD to pay him back once he asked for it. Not doing so had consequences of some kind that they wanted to avoid. And all of this was thought through for them by a genius. The one flaw in the evil plan was...they hadn't really paid attention when he explained his skill to them. They hadn't cared then, and later on, he never bothered. It's not quite lying by omission, since he had volunteered the info earlier, so it's their fault for refusing to listen to him. And I do like that he barely cares about them afterwards. He's got power now, so he's off to do other things. He doesn't try to kill them or anything else, since...well they don't matter to him in the slightest now. Overall, a great story, and while the pacing can get wonky, I love it.

And the angst was like Dr. Facilier from "The Princess and the Frog" getting the totem that allowed him to keep his deal with "friends from the other side" intact destroyed. The friends wanted to collect immediately, which was why the mage wanted to kill him. But once he faced the Boss, the access way had sealed him from them, and the crooked team felt the huge karma debt of betrayal suck their points dry. And then he got to steal their innate skills due to their negative point limits (they still owed more).

Training any skill including the hawk eye skill, say he trained 1000 SP worth in a day, it will not allow him to use it, because he still has a debt of 9998999 remaining. Supposed that he can buy time for a month, and generously he was given 31 days, that's just 31000 SP. He still owes 9968999 SP.

They got foreclosed on. He took back the loaned skills, their SP AND their other skills since they couldn't repay 6 years' worth of loaned skill points at one time. That's why the guy they threw to the boss could beat it while they were too weak to do much. He had entitled to his guild severance and bounty. With all he was owed, the new skills he had were upgraded.

But he claimed the borrowed skills firstly. Then after the mage girl figured it out, he was already sealed when the Boss, and unable to be touched. But he drained them, and took their non-borrowed skills too. Once he beat the boss, he got out, took his payments from the guild and washed his hands of his former colleagues. And they found out how weak they were without him, leading others to wonder if the skill lender was the true hero of that group. Their high rank was in serious danger of being lost due to their weakness without him.

he only loaned them minor skills, nothing compared to their own powerful unique skills, but the 10% interest was compound, meaning that after borrowing these minor skills for so long they owed him back so much that he took their powerful unique skills as well, making them extremely weak in the process. non of them did the math beforehand, because ... well they weren't the brightest bunch

It said that the mage girl was a genius and the party trusted her estimate. Except she didn't bother to really learn the fine print of Marz repayment interest. Simple interest vs compound interest for that many years is a huge mark to be off. It was the undoing of the mage girl and it seemed she accepted her fate of no longer having that intellect when they got saved from the dungeon.

@@epsyblue7714 At this point Gordan just lost the borrowed skills. Heavily Implying that each one was too lazy to train their own skills, depending on the pack mule to train for them. Even on something so basic and vital as weapon and armor proficiency. He is about to lose Obsidian, but no one notices because Gordan is catatonic from the ants. Its not really explained if they even keep ANY skills once drained dry. Mage (the only one we regularly see) is heavily implied to just be a dimwitted and gluttonous child with a stick now. Ch 36 has Swordman finally being drained as the "cliffhanger".

You're correct. The idea was they if they used the lended skills enough they would earn skill points(SP) on them to repay the debt and interest by the time collection was due. In the basic thought of the contract it seems they could keep borrowing almost indefinitely as long as they kept becoming stronger. But the flaw was that it was compound interest on the loan and not just simple interest. So if the lender can't pay back the SP of the loaned skill, then it seems Marz could take the SP of other skills from the lendee. And it seems the hole was so big that he could take natural skills at whim from the members to collect on the debt. He hasn't collected Altra's Sword Saint skill nor the Gordon's Obsidian skill yet like did the others.

Since Altra needed drugs to keep himself going since he was practically "Level 0" physically and his prior skills repossessed by Marz, the Sword Saint skill was "corrupted" so it couldn't be taken.

Ah is basically the skill his past party barrow skill had never returned once is that then to forget that they Barrow instead gain of their own skill.They slow become lazy and arrogant to gain skills themselves and asked the mc do it and then borrowed the skill to them.Doing that they forget how his skill works and the debt accumulated overtime turn into negative number is to pay of negative number by their own skill,level,and etc to pay of the debt.

It still confuses me on how those morons thought killing Marz was a good idea when they still needed the effect of the skills he had lend them in the first place. Even the recent skills they had should’ve disappeared, particularly the “resist poison” one I think they recently got that their dumbasses need for that dungeon. Plus all the other skills they put no effort into learning themselves.

I assumed that the party took into account that part of the skill lending ability allowed them to eventually own the skills themselves. They seemed to keep the contract of the lended skills open though. (Plot hole?) It seems they felt that the amplified affect of their power with the lent skills was of their own doing. And they detached themselves from the real fact that Marz put the time and effort gain the necessary skills and general knowledge that they needed to beat dungeons, because he couldn't fight. It just so happened that the recent skill to counter the dungeon poison was barely lent out so when he recalled it when he left them, he knew they were completely unaware and would fall victim. Would they have even cared to remember there was air poison and a counter skill was lent out since they didn't care about him anyway? It was their ignorance and disregard for his humanity that became their downfall when the debt payment came due.
