Some DJs don’t understand the science here. Peep the timing , scratching, crowd reaction , music knowledge and his interaction with the crowd. If this ain’t DJing show me your video rocking in the park. It ain’t so easy rockin 45s he made it look easy.🔥🔥
What's cool about Kid Capri in this video is he's playing a bunch of old school original songs that other people use for cuts and breaks and samples. And even though old school DJs embrace the new technology it's still nice to see them go back to the original old school way of DJing skills using your ear maybe a stopwatch and the calculator old school DJs know what I mean by that.... clocking.
Not only those two, but Jazzy Jay right there in the back of Kid Capri leaning cases. Caz of the Cold Crush gives him the mic to start it off. I cant wait to 2020 where ever Kid Capri is that summer I am there!
Yep yep, shit bro i hung up on here listnen n watchin n commentin for hours now,,,, by accident dawg!!... been skatin my ass off n ain't even left my seat,,,, man it sho has brought back some great memories tho!!!
Shit im all out of breath & all dat !!! Done wore myself out goin back in time to the days when it wasnt bout bangin somebodys girl, or killin one another !!
@Emptiness Form if I'm being honest I was undewhelmed by the timing of the transitions and felt his selection wasn't the best either. But it's not my culture so I don't know what is considered good.
@Emptiness Form i recently was put on to cut chemist to watch and was similarly underwhelmed. Is this a thing? If i was at an event and the dj was playing choppilly like that I'd leave.
Salute Kid Capri!! I remember DJ Mark 45 King put me on to "The Easiest Way To Fall". We went to school together in like 1979. We couldnt wait to see one another each day to share the newest breakbeat find!!! That was the true meaning of digging in the crates!!! Searching old R&B & Funk tracks looking for that short funky break!!!!! #DjTiz #ThaSoundBarbarian
I’m a white guy from Detroit and I used to go with my wife to a lot of resale shops and I was always looking through any 45 records they might have. It was always a jackpot if I found any old funk records and triple jackpot if I found any with the little picture of ‘ you know who ‘ on the label. I have about 700 old 45 rpm records and my top two favorites of them all are James Brown - ‘ Get Up ( I Feel Like Being Like A Sex Machine ) and ‘ I Can’t Stand Myself When You Touch Me ‘ Number three is original version Soul Brothers Six - Some Kind Of Wonderful ‘
@@richiebee1984 I can't sit there as he or any dj plays only 30 seconds of my favorite tracks and yelling over it. Dj plays one of my favorite songs ever, and just as i'm about to lose my mind, the dj cuts it off!! And then i have to hear him yelling over it. FUCK THAT SHIT!!! Why the fuck would i only want to hear 1 min. of Instant Funk"s - Got My Mind Made Up or 30 seconds of Hall & Oats - Say No Go Like i said, I love music way to much to put myself through that bullshit!!
Yeah can't stand when DJs cut the songs too early, they don't realize they are there to make people dance and enjoy, not to show off. Cutting must be balanced with songs too.
KEEPING IT REAL AS REAL CAN GET FOR REAL """""""DJ KID CAPRI """"""" AS A REAL OLD SCHOOL DJ MYSELF AS MANY FROM THE 70's 80's and 90's know just how you MUST BE A TRUE DISC JOCKEY TO KEEP THAT FLOW GOING CUTTING AND SCRATCHING ON 45'S IS NOT EASY AND TAKES SKILL, AS SHOWN BY THE ONE OF THE TRUE LIVING LEGENDS, DJ KID CAPRI >
jha know this is what we call selecting playing CDs that is not selecting if you cant spin 2 turntables you are not a selector this guy reminds me of back in the 90s here in Jamaica
Y is everybody so proud of him not having a laptop with him?? No wonder he sounds so limited! Have u ever seen Dj Battles now, like the ones in Japan?? Sooooo much more creative and dynamic, here is like the same thing over n over again -
AGREED!! But black folk don't give a damn about what's (REAL) - like what you just said... they want (TRADITION), and that's primarily what's held so many back for over 150 years now. smh
my name is junie... aka lil bolo... i am from new york. from the ole school hip hop era...you got to love kid capri for showing love to the art. all dj`s marked their music. so you can get the feel of the break. so all you haters stop hating about who is real dj`s. because you do not know what you talking about...
He's good but best no way not in the same level or league as jazzy jeff' cash money' dj magic Mike' dj Mr mixx or mix master Mike' dj premier, spinbad, i could go on and on
Some of these comments in here are freaking hilarious! None of these cats on Kid Capri's level and talking about about their better than him, lmaoooooooo, stop it, go into comedy or watch that commercial where they say this is your brain on drugs. lmaoooooo!
Marcel Vogel tell you what, when you get on his level to even do a quarter of what he’s done, then I will explain it to you, until then, look forward to seeing you on Def Comedy Jam ✌🏽
It's good when it comes to technique but it's just not worth anything for the crowd other than two seconds of nostalgia every track. You still hear it at KRS or Masta Ace and other classic shows, though. Don't act like these things don't happen anymore just because you're never there when they do.
@@1BergerVongSchlauigkeitHer Out here in Cali, no one wants to cart vinyl around anymore. Can't say I blame them. I keep mine where people can't put their dirty nasty hands on it! Seems RESPECT is the one thing that I haven't seen in the past 10 years. That's why I got out of the business altogether.
@@metall1983 -Gottdamn! How the FU** you know that sh*t?? 😳 LOLOL!! Wow, it's some really amazing people out here... we just don't see enough of em. Dude heard 1 LICK and nailed it - Meanwhile, I've never even HEARD of "Baby Huey" - I be damn! smh
The computer just makes it easier to carry the library, it doesn't mix. You still have to have timing. It can normalize your sound so you don't have High and low volume. They also don't get sound degraded in the computer. Yes this does take skill, coordination and a good ear for music.
@@dylvasey I mean... It was a DOPE sequence.. in time... all vinyl... deep cuts and multiple genres.. what's amazing about playing other people's records period? IJS He has been one of the best djs out for a while. Are you not a fan?
@@soulriter I'm a fan of anyone who uses vinyl but I'm not going to say anyone is amazing when all they are doing is cutting from one track to another. Technically, literally anyone who knows how to use a mixer could recreate this set with access to the same collection. I like people like Skratch Bastid who are more technical whilst still taking you on a journey. It's all subjective though :)
There we go, I knew there had to be somebody doing the real thing. 45s yet. No pre- recorded shit here, except maybe them pre- recorded 45s. I make tools and gadgets all the time. Back in about 1980 my brother was going to have a party with his rock band and I got the idea for something dumb to make, I made a small sandwich of plastic that you could put a 45 record in and it had a pickup on it that would play the record with half the record sticking out the end. You plug it into an amp and you could scratch the record back and forth with your hand or you could make it play a bit back and forth rolling it on the ground. I put my JamesBrown - Hot Pants 45 in it and took it to the party. They played around with it a bit but it might have been a cooler thing in more competent hands. I got my James Brown record back out of it and I think my brother still has the rest
anybody know the song at 3:23 ? right after jackson 5. I feel like some british artist like lily allen sampled it but i can't remember what song it is.
He look like he would DJ for free all day, because he likes what he is doing, but I'm sure he is paid good,if he had a two hour show that he was paid to do ....he would extend it for 2 more hour
