This actually hurts on a fundamental level. When I was still in high school I actually was one of these kids, but it was for sub-based MMO's (or MMO's that offered premium) and, of all things, Second Life. I ended up spending up to $1000 of my dad's money on games along. It was not my proudest moment, and my dad has still not let it go. The first kid also has no concept of value. His mom points out that he'd spent 500 pounds on Playstation cash and demands that he pay her back for it all and he's sitting there pointing out that she owes him for the cheap-ass plastic headset.

Im glad that my childhood was with plastic toy soldiers. Though I can say that paying almost 500 dollars or euros for games, or especially currency in game, is insane (unless you are supported by company or something)
