Actually, rock n roll did originate with Black musicians. The term "rock n roll" itself was old Black slang for sex, it can be heard in songs long before rock n roll music existed, back to the 1920s or 1930s. Technically, the original "rock n roll" is like an earlier version of what was later called "blue eyed soul". Which is rhythm & blues (previously called "race music") by white artists. The early rock n roll acts charted on the Billboard R&B chart too like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, even Conway Twitty (who later switched to country music). The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Fleetwood Mac (original lineup), etc were all doing music based on blues and R&B. Rockabilly is R&B mixed with country. Country swing is country mixed with jazz, bluegrass has jazz elements too. Rock n roll became known as "white music" because some of the later offshoots like progressive rock had less blues influence and more European music such as classical. The audience for rock was mainly white & largely male. In the 1960s a lot of the younger Black audience abandoned the blues, they considered it low class or "country"/hillbilly. They went with soul, which was considered more high class than blues. B.B. King has spoken about this abandonment. Some Motown & Stax artists blew up and crossed over. Notice that with jazz & blues a lot of the audience for those today is often largely white, no matter what the race of the artist is. It was the white artists, particularly the British Invasion ones, who would shout out the Black blues singers, put them on their tours, or record with them.

Kid 'n Play was originally considered for the role in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, but the role ultimately went to Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff. Christopher Reid of Kid 'n Play told Mad Skillz that he and Martin believed that if they said no to the sitcom deal, they would still get their cartoon and a sitcom. However, NBC went with Smith and Jeff for the sitcom, which became The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Reid later admitted that he and Martin didn't consider the bigger picture and only focused on their own wants.

I was 10 years old when House Party first opened in theaters. No shade to Robin Harris, but I could not understand his slurred speech sometimes. When he forbid Kid from going to the party and said, "It'd be different if Peter's parents were going to be there," I thought he said "Peter Pan." As if to say he wouldn't have a problem with the party if it were kid-friendly. No pun intended. Also, when he crashed the party and said to Bilal, "Sounds like something you catch on your feet," I thought he said, "sounds like somebody catch you on your feet." As if to say "Bilal" sounded like a cartoon sound effect when a character lands feet first or something. 🤷‍♂
