Kids Country is a project where children from Beeac Primary School explored their experiences and understanding of the land. The children developed stories to describe their environments. They develop visual interpretations as well as written and oral material to tell stories. As they created they learn how to collaborate and to develop personal and group narratives. The children’s stories were presented through live, site-specific, promenade-style puppetry performance and also presented digitally through sound. The stories have been presented on a geo-located app “Echoes” and also as a podcast on Spotify.
This residency took place on the lands of the Gulidjan and Gadubanud peoples, the traditional custodians of the Colac Otway region.
