KIDDIE KITE FUN 

LOL. I made a spreader that fit, and I noticed that the spine and leading edge spars were going to fall out so I taped 'em in with masking tape. It flew surprisingly well. I have had as much fun with this kite as I have had with the ITW 9' Levitation Light Delta.

I found a little delta in a store called 'Just Stuff' here in Hamlin, NY recently....haven't flown it yet, but @ $1.00 I couldn't leave without it! They are all fun....

I've have bought several cheap kites in the last couple of years mostly out of curiosity to see if they actually fly, some like the small plastice Eddy's that came two in packet for one UK pound confounded my preconceived expectations & few beautifully in a light breeze, though i did ignore the instructions on the packet top that stipulated the flying line should be tied dirrect to the dihederal centre junction on the back of the kite (WT... !!!) instead i made a bridle to fit through the two precut holes intended for this purpose. A more expensive kite i acquired was nylon frog kite, bought cheaply with several other childrens kites last October in a superstore end of season sale, a great time to buy kites ! It was an utter failure, depite attempting all manner of adjustments and modifications, some quite drastic. The previous October i bought two nylon Rainbow deltas, in appearance much the like the one in your video, they were very badly sown, one having the keel misplaced so far rearward that there was no way it would ever become airbourne. These Deltas had the same sprung/bowed spreader bar as yours, the Delta that did fly stayed up in a gusty wind, the spreader appearing to flex with increased wind pressure upon the kite and thus creating more dihederal and dumping lift, so i presume this is a mechanism to allow the kite to cope with a wide range of wind speeds. ( those uninitiated in the finer art of Kitemanship look out of the window, see a gale blowing and believe it is perfect weather for kite flying !! well it is if you enjoy the masochistic pleasure of a Flexifoil in beaufort 9, OMG it is FAST ! i love flying mine !) I really enjoy being pleasantly surprized when a very cheap that i have low expectations of rises into the air and floats on the breeze just as well as an expensive kite. A cheap kite that takes to the air is better than an expensive kite that refuses to fly properly.
