When young Scottish gentleman David Balfour's father dies, he leaves school to claim his inheritance from his uncle Ebenezer, only to be betrayed and sold into slavery on a pirate ship. A fortuitous encounter with Alan Breck Stewart, a fierce supporter of the Stuart dynasty, leads to a daring escape back to Edinburgh. As they navigate a perilous journey filled with clashes against the Redcoats and moments of mutual respect, David, loyal to the English crown, begins to see the harsh realities of its oppression.
