You're a lifesaver, Carah! I've been stressing over my 3 year old starting school next year, mostly because she's a super picky eater and doesn't eat meat. She gets her protein from her veggies, yogurt and peanut butter. The one thing she loves is peanut butter but her school is a "nut free" school so I was so worried she wasn't going to eat good. The cream cheese and jelly roll is going to be a perfect substitute for her.
vdeleon87 yes! I'd love this. It's SO hard for me to come up with quick easy but yummy lunch ideas and I work 12 hour shifts so I need basically 2 to 3 meals. I end up bringing a lot of food that's not healthy
Granola can even fully fall apart to it's ingredients. If you throw in seeds, nuts, etc. they would be fine.just not wheat crisps or cereals. But of course you can pack yoghurt and granola apart to mix it just b4 eating to make it 100% fine.

Oh Wow such a nice video. I don't know why but no matter what I pack into my kids lunch box they bring it back home. Don't eat much and yes I'll definitely going to try these one now. Wish me all the best this time

I make a breakfast recipe similar to the cream cheese and jelly rolls you made except after you roll them you dip them in French toast batter and cook them in a skillet and then roll them in cinnamon sugar. So good!

Such creative lunches! I usually make my son a ham and cheese or peanut butter and jelly sandwich or a taco ranging from ham and egg, bean and egg, chorizo and egg, a quesadilla with a fruit and try to incorporate a vegetable usually carrots, celery, or cucumber. Water usually is 1st choice I try not to put to much food because he'll bring it back half eaten and sometimes doesn't want it for his after school snack so it gets thrown away 😔
We've always eaten the skin on Kiwi. Our nutritionist has really encouraged this as some of the best nutrients are in the skin. Everyone I know that eats it agrees that it's no different than biting into an apple or pear with the skin on. yuummyyyy

It's interesting because you will not find a school here in Canada that allows nuts of any kind. It can't even say "may contains nuts" on the package. There are so many nut allergies among children here in Canada, makes one wonder why...
A lot of my subscribers say that too... but they don't push that at any of alaina's schools, so I have never really thought about it much... but maybe I should. The thing is... she doesn't eat a lot of meat so its one of the best ways to get protein for her.
Carah Amelie my son is allergic to both dairy and peanuts and a whole range of things, he hasn't started school yet. But the allergist has said that as long as the kid allergic doesn't come into contact or eat the product most kids with allergies are fine. So maybe there aren't many kids with allergies at the school your girls attend.
I love the rolls but my daughter doesn't like pickles so that wouldn't quite work, lol! I think I might save this video and try some of the other ideas the next time I make her lunch! Great mommy video!

Don't worry, better don't make it fancy. when I had toasted sandwiches for lunch I've always sell half of them to other children. And it's not like I had anorexia, I had overweight. but it was nice addition to my pocket money, actually sometimes higher thaan pm. Some lunches teach children how to eat healthy - some teach them how capitalism works.
When I was really little my dad packed me plain peanut butter sandwiches and yogurt (I'm lactose intolerant). So glad I can pack my own lunches now. Jeez.
Guess what, allergies form, they are not given at birth always. You say this like your dad was trying to kill you just because he USE to pack you dairy products when you weren't alergic to them.
My mom made these exact lunches for me when I was younger. Only difference is that she used plain cucumber instead of pickles and made a sandwich out of that with the ham and cream cheese.
But what's particular reason for banning all nuts for EVERYBODY if allergy is common, so not 100% have it and probably not every nuts, but one type of them? Any reason other than rule-maker being imbecille is to prevent problems during lunch sharing, but just teach kids it's unhygienic and they shouldn't share lunches. It was banned in my country in schools simply because bitting other's sandwiches makes some illnesses spread.
V M definitely depends on the classroom.... teachers usually do a questionnaire on allergies. One year my son has someone who was allergic to peanuts so he had to sit elsewhere with his sandwich
The skewers are dangerous for young children. If you are going to put skewers in a lunch box for children, make sure they are supervised. Also the banana would go brown, as will any slices apples unless lemon juice is squeezed on them. Also the ham rolls are nice, but my mother never placed ham in her children lunches, as ham tend to go off and attract bacteria if not refridgerated or placed in a cold area or a lunch box with a cooler.
I love this kind of kids food preparing it is healthy but, I was worried about the nuts that is not allowed at school to avoid the other kids with thier allergies.
Yes, because we definetly need to feed children with more and more sweets. You know that actually MAIN ingerdient of Nutella is sugar, right? It's actually not nuts cream tih cocoa. It's actually nut-flavoured sugar paste with a little bit of cocoa as dye.
The cream cheese sandwich reminds me of going to tea! That is always served there. My daughter is a celiac and used to take rolled meat for lunch because the gluten free bread tastes so awful. She hated it because she was the only student eating this way. She felt a bit better about lettuce wraps, but still hated being the only person who could not have a normal lunch. Now things are so different and many students bring wraps for lunch. It is nice that parents are experimenting with different foods and presentations.
