Wow, I have alopecia and this is so relatable. Except people were(still are) very mean to me. I'm 15 but lost all my hair when I was about 9. It was very difficult for me especially in school. Lots of people up till now say that i should wear a wig or go for hair transplant surgery. They whisper stupid things to themselves like "how will she get a husband?". On the first day of school after all my hair fell out, I got made fun of so much, the next day I started wearing a cap every day to school and it slowly transitioned into me wearing a cap everywhere I went except my house. Now I will be going to university soon, and I am tired of hiding behind a cap. I have started going out with no head covering to some places (except school and many other places). It's still very difficult because people will stop and stare at me, some even point!. I prefer when people ask me about my condition instead. I live in Nigeria so, it's pretty difficult to live with such a disease here. I love my country and all but we lack so many resources. Hospitals couldn't find out what was wrong with me. It was until I got a private doctor because my parents were worried that I found out the name of my disease. I hope someone like Lexi and I can spread news about alopecia and make it something that others girls and boys as young as me don't have to dread. I'm slowly working on myself and self esteem. I hope at this rate I will be able to go to college and other places without a cap. I have already slowly started however. My name is Ajina Kareemah. And I'm proudly an Alopecian 😄

My GF just recently developed alopecia about a year ago and she is having a hard time dealing with it. She had to deal with some bullying at HS and decided to do homeschooling again. She gets certain treatments done to try to slow it and reverse it. They are making strides in research on cures for it though.

I have a friend like her. She was on a different swim team than me so basically we were competitors against each other. But that doesn’t matter cuz she was cool and we wished each other good luck.

I will pray for her Its really sad, I really feel sad for her Even I had alopecia but fortunately recovered it

Shes mad pretty. I have alopecia areata from a skin infection I had when I was a small child, the infection left but my immune system kept attacking, my bf doesnt make me feel ugly for it. He makes me feel like the most important thing to him.

I have alopecia well thats what the doctors think at least because i keep getting random bald spots and they are pretty sure that when i get older more and more will come out. At the moment i have one bald spot one on the back of my head but u know what? Im completely fine with that if people dont accept that they dont have to talk to me or look at me. Dont be scared to be ur self🤗😘

If it’s not been done yet, I think the kids should meet someone who suffers from insomnia or narcolepsy. I’m an insomniac and my brother is narcoleptic and they’re both very weird conditions. My brother isn’t a catatonic narcoleptic thankfully (‘thankfully’ because he’s an athlete), but I think that’s a condition kids should learn about so they don’t get freaked out if they ever encounter a narcoleptic person.

Does alopecia do anything else? Like is it a wider anti-immune disorder that causes issues with inflammation, or does it stay only to eliminating hair? Also, if there was a way to give yourself alopecia I think some people would go for it... I would give it strong consideration.

It was May 2020, when a young woman of about 26 years old approached me for Alopecia Totalis. She graduated in Psychology and Economics and moved to Bangalore, far away from home. The job was intensively demanding and stressful. In 2019, she was diagnosed with Dengue fever, for which she was hospitalized. After 3-4 months of continuation, I could really observe a significant regrowth with fresh hair follicles on her hair and eyebrows. Just two days before, she called me up and with a perfect positive start to the New Year 2021, she told me, “I am doing really well”. These words, induced a sigh of relief along with an extreme sense of gratification just because of the fact that I could bring a smile on this young 26 year old girl’s face.
