this song is so sad. i think about: we all used to be kids who knew nothing but happiness, we needed our parents attention and wanted them by our side at all times or else we’ll cry for hours nonstop. now all we wanna do is get away from them, have fun with our friends, lie to them, wish they were dead when they get mad at us. but nevertheless, our parents will always love us no matter how hard we hurt them with our actions and words, they will always cherish any moment we have with them. or the gossip girl scene where Nate was playing football with his family.

When I listen to this then I imagine: a friend group driving a car on a late summer night while playing this song.

this song is in my life soundtrack. realizing im growing up was scary for me, im not just a kid anymore- i cant use "im just a kid" as an excuse anymore, i cant always make friends easily, i dont even look up to my parents anymore, and i realized how corrupt this world is. its awful. i want to go back to being a kid, not giving a care in the world, just being me. that was a precious feeling. it is gone now but, i still think about it and when i do, i hear this song

This reminds me of my childhood. Walking through Berlin with my parents, Going to the playground, Trading Bayblades at recess, Eating breakfast infront of the TV while watching CloneWars.

I find it so interesting that the smallest of things kept us content as children. But when we grow up we just can’t get enough. That’s why the lyrics, “control yourself, take only what you need from it” hit so much harder the older you get.

No one will see this but I have to write this out I’ve lost all my memories from after the age of 7 due to heavy repeated trauma, all I remember is some snippets of more trauma and maybe a few happy moments. I’ve spend 10 years fighting depression already and im only 16. This song made me smile so bright, it made me see some memories I forgot I had flashing back in my head. I can't remember how old I was specifically when this song came out, but I know it was in my earlier high school years. This song reminds me of pep assemblies, the one gym being filled with 2,000+ kids and just screaming and cheering while music blasted, and games and challenges were played out on the basketball court. It also reminds me of the time that my first boyfriend broke up with me. All the lonely school bus rides home without having him to sit next to me. All of the kids laughing around me and having fun while I sat alone, looking out of the rainy bus window... It's so strange how a single song could remind me of such happy, youthful, crazy times, but also one of the worst places I was ever at in my life.

this summer i am going into 10th grade (14 years old) it was the most amazing summer ever. i hung out with my friends everyday until 12 - 1 am. we would spend all day riding our bikes, swimming at the lake, getting ice cream, going on adventures, climbing our old school, building a zip line in a forest, just fucking around being kids. i haven't talked to anyone from my high school in months ( i hate all of the people there) , the entire summer i just hung out with the kids i went to elementary school with ( my best friends since i was 2) all my friends and i live in a super secluded neighborhood near a lake. the only person i hung out with from my new school is a girl i met this year, shes slowly became one of my best friends. i met her at the start or grade 9 around a year ago, she hung out with my other friends and i all summer. we would climb my elementary school at night and just listen to music and watch the sunset up there, we got in trouble with the police for trespassing and ran from them. we hopped off the school and got on our bikes and went down a very calm street while laughing and just enjoying life, it was around 10 pm and life felt so unreal like we were in a movie. we would go get arizona ice tea and monster energy drinks from the local convenience store everyday, then bike to the lake and go swimming at night it was one of the most amazing feelings ever just like life wasn't real and everything around me wasn't existing. we would spend all day together just outside being kids, laughing, smiling, and being happy. a few nights ago me and the girl from my school had went to my dads house and stole some coolers we went down to the beach to drink them and just vibe, when we went back to her house her parents weren't home. she offered me to drink so i did, i didn't know what was going to happen next but i just decided to live in the moment and just not think about the consequences. we drank an entire bottle or gin and were laughing so hard, i looked at her and she looked at me then she kissed me and this song was playing on my phone when it happened. at that moment i felt so out of body one of the best moments in my life. we continued to drink more and more until we were both completely faded her mom came down and found both of us drunk, she called my mom and i got my ass whooped when i got home. the next day she and her mom came to my house so that her and i could apologize to each others parents, as this was happening me and her were looking at each other smiling trying not to laugh so hard. her and i are both grounded for a month and don't have our phones. i can't stop thinking about how fucking good that night was, i do not regret anything that happened. i can't wait to tell my kids about this summer, it felt like coming of age movie. man summer 2020 was fucking crazy.
