My husband, the father of my son, died when our baby was 2 days old. The line in this song about raising this child and he wears your smile gets me every time. It was my son who kept me going through those darkest of times. He’s 50 now. Thank you for this beautiful song.

I was working at the Grand Opera House and on the auditorium the very night this was performed. It was amazing. I have never been more moved or overwhelmed by a song! An absolute privilege to hear it, and I heard it for free. Indeed I got paid to hear it.

Now there's a singer. Not the same as the studio version, this...but every iota as good. Love the harmony on this live version too. Though this song is very much the voice of a single individual, the melody, in places, aches for harmony...as the singer aches for a lost love. Exquisite.

Elton payed tribute to her brilliance on a tour in the late 90s to honour Gianni Versace and Princess Diana, as he couldn't sing Candle in the Wind live.... he sung a slightly modified version of this and every night had audiences in floods of tears.. what an honour!
